Li Wei walked up to Shao Yang and deliberately glanced behind him.

"Where are the others? Are they still behind us?"

Sensing the aura emanating from Li Wei, Shao Yang realized there was nothing that could threaten him, so he chuckled and said, "Yes, as their captain, I naturally have to lead the charge. I just encountered a Strength-Type Enhanced Zombie; it took quite a bit of effort to finish it off!"

Just as I thought!

Li Wei had been wondering why that zombie hadn't pursued them for so long. It turned out it had already died at the hands of this madman. Looking at it from another angle, however, this lunatic's combat power was truly no joke. Having fused over a hundred Guardian Yellow Papers, his strength had indeed increased significantly.

At this rate, even Zheng Yutong would be no match for him!

"Hey, you guys go into the passage first to scout the path. If you encounter danger, retreat immediately—don't try to be a hero. He and I will stay behind to cover the others!" Li Wei shouted to Zheng Yutong, signaling for them to leave quickly.

Although she was reluctant, Zheng Yutong chose to trust Li Wei's judgment at this moment. If a real battle broke out, these newcomers would be of no help; they would only be throwing their lives away. Moreover, she had developed a blind trust in Li Wei from the bottom of her heart. Perhaps he had some sort of plan.

Seeing Zheng Yutong and the group of newcomers preparing to leave, a flash of ferocity crossed Shao Yang's eyes, though it vanished as quickly as it appeared, replaced by his previous amiable expression.

Separating them was fine; he could pick them off one by one. This kid and that woman were likely the veterans of the group, and aside from them, the others were not worth fearing.

With that thought, Shao Yang walked with Li Wei in the direction they had come from.

"Is this the zombie you killed?" Li Wei looked at a corpse lying not far away. Judging by its sturdy frame, it was indeed the Strength-Type Enhanced Zombie, but Li Wei, possessing the Eye of Perception, noticed something interesting.

The zombie wasn't dead. Although its body had suffered severe damage and it looked as if it were lifeless, it was still alive. Recalling the regenerative special ability of Strength-Type Enhanced Zombies, Li Wei understood immediately.

Shao Yang must have tracked it to the Underground Garage and happened upon the creature. With his boosted combat power, he had easily knocked the zombie down and mistakenly assumed it was dead.

Shao Yang nodded. Now that the surroundings were empty, this was the perfect time to make his move.

Seeing Shao Yang's demeanor, Li Wei couldn't possibly misunderstand the madman's intentions. He quickly said, "It's just you and me here now. We're both smart people, so let's stop putting on an act. You got quite a lot of benefits from killing those newcomers, didn't you?"

Shao Yang, who had been preparing to strike, was shocked. The look he gave Li Wei lost its previous playfulness. When did I reveal my flaw? That's impossible! he thought. Furthermore, judging by this man's words, he seemed to know the secret that killing others could cause them to drop Skill Books and Guardian Yellow Papers.

Shao Yang looked Li Wei over again and chuckled. "Not bad. Since you already know, I'll let you die with clarity. I killed those idiots to seize their abilities and Guardians to boost my strength. Now, I'm going to kill you for the exact same reason!"

Li Wei took a few steps forward and turned to face him.

"Don't you want to know how I found out you killed them?" He spoke with composure, appearing completely unconcerned that the other man might strike him down.

Li Wei's current display of having no defenses left Shao Yang feeling strange. He temporarily held back the skills he had been about to unleash, though he kept his body squared up with Li Wei, which left him with his back to the zombie's corpse.

"You might as well tell me. Maybe I'll spare you!" Shao Yang was genuinely curious about how Li Wei had spotted the flaw.

Li Wei didn't speak; he simply pointed to the surveillance camera probe overhead. Shao Yang looked up, and a sudden realization dawned on him.

"So that's how it is. I was indeed negligent!"

To be honest, he now felt a bit of admiration for the man before him. A calm mind and an impressive power of deduction—he was likely a Mental Power Enhancer. Such people usually lacked high combat power, but they were absolutely indispensable parts of a team. If possible, he really wanted to bring him under his control.

However, Shao Yang wanted the other man's mental power skills and Guardian even more. Although he had just fused over a hundred Guardian Yellow Papers, his four main attributes had only increased by 10 points. This was because the newcomers all had F-rank ratings; no matter how many you fused, the attribute gains from such a low rating were limited.

"Alright, I don't have time to waste words with you. Once I kill you, I still have to hunt down that woman and those little rats. Perhaps I can enjoy myself a bit before I kill her, heh heh!" Shao Yang's vicious nature was fully exposed. He suddenly pulled a Submachine Gun from his coat and pulled the trigger on Li Wei.

Li Wei was no slower; his own muzzle pointed at his opponent simultaneously. Both guns spat fire, instantly illuminating the dim Underground Garage.

However, an unexpected situation occurred. The bullets fired by both sides were deflected by some invisible force just as they were about to strike their targets.

This guy has armor!

Li Wei and Shao Yang realized this at the same time. Li Wei found it expected, but Shao Yang was somewhat surprised. One had to know that possessing invisible armor wasn't something an ordinary person could achieve, and to reach a level capable of defending against close-range gunfire, the armor had to be a complete set.

A set of the lowest-tier Green Quality Armor was worth at least 30,000 points!

Thinking that his opponent might be quite wealthy, Shao Yang intensified his attack. Firearms were clearly useless, so he discarded his weapon and drew the two rapiers he had taken from the hundred people he had killed earlier.

He had obtained these weapons with great difficulty in a mission scenario. With 20-34 attack power and a Pierce skill, they could easily break through defenses, even if the opponent was wearing armor.

Seeing the two rapiers, Li Wei understood that the real deathmatch was about to begin. It was a pity his Centaur Battle Axe was lost. With no other choice, he drew the Tactical Dagger he had temporarily stacked before the mission.

After three rounds of Stacking, its attack was 8-14 with +3 Agility and a Cutting Enhancement attribute. This dagger was the best weapon Li Wei could currently use.

Of course, the 'weapon' Li Wei could utilize wasn't limited to just this dagger.

This is the moment!
