Background / History
Guo Jian was a veteran Reincarnator identified as Number 348. During the Heroes of Might and Magic scenario, he became stranded amid the undead after choosing an incorrect escape route and failing to account for Ghost units, which physical attacks could not harm. He had already survived seven plot missions by this point. 20
After becoming exhausted and trapped in Dawn City, Guo Jian encountered Undead Necromancer Sand, who transformed him into an undead subordinate after taking an interest in his unusual physique and skills. His transformation elevated him to a C2-rated combatant, though it left his skin grey-purple and unusually hard. 26 27
He later aligned himself with the Undead Necromancer Sand. His mission was to protect Sand or eliminate other Reincarnators, placing him directly against Li Wei and Dread Knight Mordel. Guo Jian intervened when Li Wei nearly killed Sand, allowing the necromancer to escape. 27
During the battle for Dawn City, Guo Jian stood with the undead forces and anticipated killing the remaining Reincarnators once Sand's army defeated the human kingdom's forces. 28
After the mission, Guo Jian’s Shadow Street abilities manifested in reality. His Undead Constitution enhanced him but also caused hair loss, pale hardening skin, and a corpse-like odor. He concealed these symptoms with cosmetics while serving as T City’s police chief. 36
When Li Wei was detained after confronting Guo Ming, Guo Jian recognized him as the Reincarnator responsible for his failed mission and the resulting 10,000-point penalty. He attempted to use his police authority to capture Li Wei, issuing a wanted notice after Li Wei escaped through a gate to Shadow Street. 36
Five days later, Li Wei infiltrated Guo Jian’s residence disguised as Guo Ming. Li Wei killed him with a Life Drain-enchanted dagger treated with blessed holy water, exploiting the Undead Constitution’s vulnerability to life and light magic. The deaths of Guo Jian and Guo Ming were staged as a murder-suicide. 37
Although Guo Jian's death was initially suppressed by higher authorities, Li Wei was later publicly wanted for Guo Jian's murder as part of An Hei's effort to locate him. 91 103 145
Appearance
Guo Jian is an imposing, broad-framed man whose physique surpasses even Captain Tie Xuan’s. After gaining the Undead Constitution, his appearance deteriorates severely. 36
- Wears a police uniform while acting as T City’s police chief. 36
- Has a frame described as more imposing than Tie Xuan’s. 36
- Before his death, his undead skin becomes grey-purple, hard, and corpse-like. 27
- Develops hair loss, pale skin, bodily hardening, and a corpse-like smell from his Undead Constitution. 36
- His altered appearance becomes so extreme that he would not need makeup for a zombie film. 37
Personality
Guo Jian is ruthless, vindictive, and highly motivated by personal gain. He protects Sand because the necromancer is essential to his mission, then becomes obsessed with obtaining Li Wei’s purple-quality Thunderous Berserk Dagger after witnessing its power. 30
He is pragmatic enough to accept Sand's transformation into an undead in exchange for survival and power, then eagerly anticipates eliminating the other Reincarnators after the undead victory. 26 28
In the real world, he abuses his position as police chief to shield Guo Ming’s misconduct and pursue Li Wei. His resentment over the failed mission and his desire to seize Li Wei’s equipment drive his attempted revenge. 36
