First Gig
Borgin looked up and asked, "What about the difficulty?"
"Difficulty?" Tom's tone was incredibly arrogant. "As long as it's not about assassinating Albus Dumbledore, other tasks are no different to me."
Borgin was amazed. He could see Tom's strong confidence and arrogant attitude that he didn't care about anyone except Albus Dumbledore.
Tom certainly had the confidence; at worst, he could have Andros fill in for him, and a few minutes would be enough to decide everything.
"There is indeed a very tricky case here." Borgin's fake smile reappeared on his face.
"I was hesitating whether to accept the offer, but since the customer is so confident, I'll let you give it a try."
He pulled out a thin sheet of silver paper from under the counter. The paper was very thin, and the edges gleamed coldly. On it was written a line of small characters.
"One of my longtime customers, Mr. Ross, has recently run into some trouble and is being hunted down by the International Auror."
"The request was to help him escape Britain, and the reward was one thousand Galleon."
Tom was momentarily stunned when he heard "International Auror." The International Confederation of Wizards is the world's largest and most influential wizarding organization.
All Ministry of Magic are members of the International Confederation of Wizards, although it cannot interfere in the internal affairs of individual countries.
However, it also possesses its own armed forces, enabling it to enforce the law across regions without regard to national restrictions.
This is a big case. For them to target Ross, he must be someone important.
Tom's gossip-loving nature ignited instantly. "Could you tell me what mistake Mr. Ross made?"
Borgin sighed. "He just made a mistake that any man would make: sleeping with the wrong woman."
Tom pressed, "May I ask who that woman is...?"
"The wife of the Deputy Minister of the International Auror Department."
Tom thought to himself, "This is the consequence of not being able to control my lower body; my little head has taken control of my big head."
But he still decided to take the task. It wasn't some vicious dark wizard; he was just too soft-hearted to stand by and watch others break up couples.
"How is the commission paid? Does the client pay me, or do you pay me? And how do I contact him?"
"The commission is in an anonymous Gringotts account. Your mission will be complete once Ross leaves Britain. I will then give you the vault number and password."
Borgin pointed to the silver paper, "Lighting this silver paper will teleport you to the vicinity of the client. Try to be as fast as possible; I estimate he can't hold on for much longer."
Tom slipped back from Knockturn Alley to Diagon Alley, left the Leaky Cauldron, and took a taxi straight back to the Wool's Orphanage.
He hid his wand, then went to Seth's room and took out a clown mask, putting it on his head.
Michael wanted to use his identity for a few more days; he couldn't just expose himself and brazenly go to rescue people.
The silver paper began to burn, as if a hook had snagged Tom's navel, and he immediately lifted his feet off the ground, flying forward in the howling cold wind.
The scenery in my field of vision became blurred because of the speed, until finally it all turned into a white light.
A powerful resistance jolted him out of high-speed flight, and his feet landed on the ground.
This is a forest, I don't know exactly where, but it should be in a county north of London, within England.
The silver paper in my hand had only a tiny scrap left that hadn't burned completely. It wasn't being delivered to its destination, but rather being stopped by the magic of Anti-Apparition Jinx and the Portkey.
He could already hear the explosions and the shrill whistling of spells tearing through the air coming from deep within the dense forest. Casting a Lightness Charm on himself, Tom rushed over quickly.
The battle involved five people: three male wizards were attacking another male wizard, while a female wizard stood at a distance to provide support.
Tom didn't rush to attack. He first sized up the male wizard who was being attacked. He wasn't particularly handsome, and he was rather short, about 1.75 meters tall, which didn't even look as tall as Mrs. Greengrass.
Could someone with these qualifications really be the neighbor next door? Tom even wondered if he had picked the wrong person.
Ross was in grave danger, struggling to resist the curse. Several of his ornaments were glowing; they were alchemical tools.
Each alchemical tool that can be used in battle is extremely valuable.
The attackers had noticed Tom, and the witch glared at him warily, shouting, "International Auror Investigations! This is none of your business! Get out of here!"
Tom ignored her warning and instead asked the besieged wizard, "Is it Mr. Ross?"
"It's me! It's me!" Ross shouted. "Aren't you one of that old man's men? Man, you've finally come!"
"More help?" The international Auror immediately became alert.
Without further hesitation, Tom raised his wand and unleashed several spells. The Auror immediately used the Iron Armor Charm to block the spells, but their attack was also forced to stop.
"Gentlemen, please give me some face and let Mr. Ross leave Britain safely." Tom walked step by step into the battlefield.
Ross moved closer, and when they were about twenty steps apart, he gestured for the other to stop as well.
When you're out in the game, the most important thing is not to trust anyone, not even your clients.
A fat male wizard, panting heavily, glared fiercely at Tom and threatened, "Do you want to become a fugitive like him? Wizard, leave now, and I can pretend nothing happened."
Tom sighed. "I'm sorry, I didn't want to get involved with you cops, but Mr. Lawrence paid too much."
Ross cheered loudly, "I love your money-obsessed personality!"
There's no point in arguing when you can't see eye to eye. Once Tom's stance was confirmed, the four Auror decisively took action.
The female Auror attacked Tom, Tom raised his hand and flicked away a spell.
"Such weak magic," he said, quite surprised. "Are you really Auror?"
This magic was practically childish compared to what Snape could cast; in fact, he used a little too much magic and overdid it with the spell.
The female Auror was furious. A duel is fine, but why resort to personal attacks?
Tom responded with several spells, and the female Auror tried to imitate him by deflecting the spells, but she was blasted away.
A Stunning Spell followed immediately, but the female Auror dodged it with a lazy roll and fired a spell back.
Tom tilted his head to avoid a red ray, then pointed his wand at a large tree and raised it upwards.
The tree was uprooted and crashed down on the female Auror. A male Auror, seeing his companion fall into such a disadvantageous position so quickly, hurriedly came to her aid.
"Reducto!" The thick tree was blown into countless fragments.
Now they had to split up to deal with Tom, and the situation suddenly became two 1v2.
With one less person, Ross's pressure did not lessen. His actual combat ability was not strong, and he had only managed to hold on until now thanks to spending money on in-game purchases. He was covered in equipment.
Tom's situation was similar; he was beating two people so badly they were in even worse Ross.
Soon, the female Auror's robe was torn to shreds, revealing glimpses of her skin.
