Thank You
Tom has deconstructed many creatures before, including unicorns, owls, bison, and even humans.
But Astoria's body was unlike anyone he had ever seen.
Under magical perception, a normal person's body appears as a sphere with a complex internal structure resembling a maze.
Each passage leads in a different direction, and magic flows within them like a river.
But Astoria's body was different; the sphere looked as if someone had cut a piece off with a knife, making it possible to see directly inside.
Tom knew that the life force and magic within were slowly leaking out through the gap, and that the gap must have been caused by the Blood Curse.
Tom withdrew his hand and remained silent for a long time. The time was too short for him to judge whether the gap was slowly widening or showing signs of being filled.
"How is it? How is it?" Daphne was the first to rush over, her voice filled with tension, even more anxious than Astoria herself.
"I can sense the presence of the Blood Curse, but I have no idea how to break it."
Tom was being honest: false hope hurts more than the stark truth. Making promises now that you can't keep later will only lead to greater disappointment.
Astoria remained calm; she took Daphne's hand and gently shook it.
"It's okay, sister. We have Tom's medicine now. Even if it doesn't cure me completely, I'll be happy as long as I can live a normal life."
Tom looked at her expression and sighed inwardly; such a temperament was rare.
"But Potions can cause resistance," Daphne muttered, feeling wronged, and quickly hugged Tom's arm, afraid that he would misunderstand.
"Tom, I'm not blaming you, I'm just worried about Astoria..."
"I understand." Tom patted her head, his tone softening. "That's why I brought a better solution."
"Although it cannot be completely eliminated, we can at least guarantee that there will be no problems for the next twenty years."
Half an hour later, in the banquet hall.
The Greengrass family of three stared wide-eyed at the bright red stone on the table.
Only Tom leisurely enjoyed the food prepared by the House-elf Parla, savoring a bite of black truffle-baked snails.
"This... this is the Philosopher's Stone?" Mrs. Greengrass's voice trembled as she reached out to touch it, but was afraid of breaking it, so she handled it very carefully.
"So Albus Dumbledore gave you the Philosopher's Stone!" Daphne exclaimed with delight.
She had no idea about this; Tom had clearly kept it a secret until now, to give her a surprise.
"It's Philosopher's Stone, but not the complete one," Tom explained earnestly, swallowing the food in his mouth.
"Much of the energy inside has been depleted; at most, it can only be refined into Elixir of Life eighteen years."
"That's enough! That's more than enough!" Mrs. Greengrass exclaimed, holding up the Philosopher's Stone with tears welling in her eyes.
This is equivalent to giving Astoria an extra eighteen years of life out of thin air.
Add to that the body-strengthening Potions she used at any cost, and her original lifespan of over twenty years, and she'd be fifty or sixty years old by now.
Although fifty or sixty years old is not a long time for a wizard, it is enough for Astoria to live out her entire life.
From innocent toddlers to enjoying their old age, and with longer lifespans, they have more time to find ways to completely break the curse.
Thinking of this, Mrs. Greengrass could no longer hold back, stood up solemnly, and bowed deeply to Tom.
Astoria quickly followed suit and bowed, and even Daphne imitated her mother, preparing to bend over.
"Mr. Riddle, I really don't know how to thank you enough," Mrs. Greengrass said, her voice choked with emotion.
"From this day forward, the Greengrass family will be your most loyal friends. Whatever you need, as long as it is within my power, I will never refuse!"
Normally you can call him Tom, but in such a formal setting, you must address him Mr. Riddle to show respect.
Astoria also spoke respectfully, "Thank you, Mr. Riddle."
Astoria also stood up and bowed respectfully. Daphne wanted to bow as well, but Tom stopped her.
"Hey, hey, Daphne, don't come any closer!" Tom reacted quickly, grabbing Daphne just as she was about to bow.
"We're all family now. One thank you is enough." Tom accepted their bows with composure.
He knew that only in this way could Mrs. Greengrass and Astoria feel better.
After dinner, Tom escorted Daphne back to her room. The hallway was quiet, with only the fire burning in the fireplace.
"Tom, thank you."
"You've already thanked me."
"That's what Mom thanked me for, this is what I thanked her for." Daphne tiptoed and kissed him on the cheek, then quickly ran into the room.
Tom touched the spot where he had been kissed and smiled.
The next morning, Tom was sitting on the balcony sunbathing when Usachi popped out of his pocket, sat on his lap, and squinted in the sun.
"We're all family now," Tom muttered to himself. "Why not use these resources?"
He approached Mrs. Greengrass and asked directly, "Do you know where I can get a meteorite?"
Mrs. Greengrass paused, her hand holding the teacup still. "A meteorite?"
"It's nothing serious, it's just that that little Usachi is too picky about food. He won't eat anything except meteorites now. Could you please help me collect some meteorites?"
Mrs. Greengrass glanced at Usachi and smiled.
"We have some in the warehouse at Weibao. You can take them for now. I'll ask a friend tomorrow and we can get another batch soon."
In the Wizarding World, meteorites are used as both Potions- making materials, making them far more readily utilized than in the Muggle world.
For the Greengrass family, collecting meteorites was not a difficult task.
As she spoke, she had someone bring a small box, which she opened to reveal a dozen or so meteorites of varying sizes neatly stacked inside.
Usachi the aroma and immediately perked up. He jumped out of Tom's arms, pounced on the box, and began to nibble at it.
Mrs. Greengrass then took a delicate little box from the drawer and handed it to Tom. "This is a little gift for you."
Tom opened the box, and inside was a palm- Portkey with a silver frame and a transparent gem embedded in the center, radiating a faint magical glow.
"I heard you're going to the United States soon. This is a registered international Portkey, completely legal, it just requires a stopover in Canada."
"This is the approval from the Department of Magical Transportation. Once you get to Canada, they will give you the Portkey to your next destination."
"Thank you, Auntie. This saves me the trouble of handling the procedures myself. Otherwise, I would have to deal with those old fogies at the Ministry of Magic, which is a real headache."
No need for Apparition, no need for a broomstick, you can go to United States United States you want. The resources of the Greengrass family are indeed very useful.
