The Solution to the Blood Curse
Nicolas Flamel already knew from previous letters that Tom was vying for the Philosopher's Stone because of the Greengrass family's Blood Curse.
But hearing it with his own ears, the old man still frowned, his expression becoming more solemn.
"Tom, I've also consulted many ancient books. There are very few records about Blood Curse to begin with, and the effects of Blood Curse vary depending on the caster."
He paused, then slowly said, "I've heard of the Greengrass family you mentioned. They're masters of social interaction."
"Especially their contract magic and methods of operation; it is precisely because of these that the family has been able to prosper for so many years."
"Even more than two hundred years ago, their family had their eyes on the Philosopher's Stone, but I hid and ignored them back then."
The old man suddenly laughed, a hint of amusement in his voice, "I never imagined that after two hundred years of twists and turns, the Philosopher's Stone would still have to be lent to them once in the end."
"Do you have a cure?" Tom leaned forward, his voice urgent.
He knew in his heart that relying on the Philosopher's Stone to prolong his life was ultimately a temporary measure. If his and Astoria's child were to inherit the Blood Curse in the future, that would be a real problem.
Wait, why did I think of Astoria first? Shouldn't it be Daphne? Tom snapped back to reality, slapping his forehead in frustration. How did my thoughts wander off course?
While he was still in a daze, Nicolas Flamel spoke up, "There are two solutions, listen to them."
Tom instantly perked up, sat up straight, and looked ready to listen attentively.
"The first method is to fight poison with poison. Use a more powerful curse to suppress the Blood Curse, for example... to curse them to live to be a hundred years old?"
Nicolas Flamel suppressed a laugh, deliberately speaking in a serious tone.
"Curses can be good or bad. Some curses cause death, while others make it impossible for someone to live."
"However, this method will be very painful. The Blood Curse hasn't actually disappeared; the two curses are clashing with each other. That feeling is not something an ordinary girl can withstand."
"Change one, change one!" Tom waved his hands repeatedly, his face scrunched up in a grimace.
"They're all young girls, how can we let them suffer like this? It's too cruel."
"You little rascal, you actually know how to take care of people." Nicolas Flamel chuckled and tapped Tom's forehead with her finger.
I had already guessed he would react this way, so I wasn't surprised at all. "Then the second option is a blood transfusion."
The old man's expression instantly turned serious. "Blood Curse, Blood Curse, is a curse inherited based on bloodline."
"Not only will a blood transfusion be needed, but if you're unlucky, you might even need a heart replacement. There are too many implications involved to explain in a short time."
Tom fell silent. Blood transfusion, heart transplant. It's not that it can't be done, it's that the risks are too great.
"Don't rush. Your foundation isn't strong enough yet. You haven't even scratched the surface of alchemy. After studying for a while, you might find a better way."
Nicolas Flamel initially agreed to meet Tom partly out of consideration for Albus Dumbledore.
But as they spent more time together, he genuinely admired Tom's talent and even considered finding a successor.
He has long since become indifferent to life and death, but he still wants to leave some trace of his existence in this world.
So now, he is genuinely considering the well-being of this younger generation.
Tom understood Nicolas Flamel's good intentions and didn't ask any further questions. He took out the Anti-Disarm Bracelet he designed from his pocket and handed it to Nico.
The old man took the bracelet, examined it several times, and nodded repeatedly.
"The basic skills are solid, but they lack a systematic approach. It's all about rote memorization of knowledge, which makes the works seem too craftsman-like."
"Look at the patterns here. They could actually be modified more cleverly, saving magic power and making the bracelet more beautiful..."
Tom listened intently, even taking out his notebook and writing furiously down every single flaw Nicolas Flamel pointed out, nodding occasionally.
A sense of sudden enlightenment filled him. Andros knew nothing about alchemy, while Gellert Grindelwald was preoccupied with increasing his strength.
He simply doesn't have time to study this stuff; he's been lacking a professional teacher for a long time.
Even within the Study Space, there isn't a more skilled alchemy master Nicolas Flamel.
One or two King of the Century may appear every hundred years, but Nicolas Flamel lived for hundreds of years and reached the pinnacle of alchemy.
One in several hundred years is rarer than King of the Century.
Nicolas Flamel talked for a while, then stopped, seemingly wanting to say more.
It's pointless to talk too much now; we need to let Tom learn from the system from scratch and build a solid foundation before we can delve deeper.
"Parker!" Nicolas Flamel tapped the edge of the rocking chair and called softly. The House-elf Parker appeared before them with a "snap."
The old man instructed him to tidy up Tom's room and prepare dinner, while he himself stood up, yawning.
Despite his energetic walk, he was exhausted after spending the morning admiring the beautiful women on the beach, so he turned around and went back to his room to rest.
Tom wandered around the living room and kitchen, picking up and touching every alchemical tool with great interest.
After wandering around for an entire afternoon, I had only managed to see one kitchen and one living room.
The next morning, the two boarded a luxurious carriage Abraxan and headed back to Paris.
Paris is divided into twenty districts, Nicolas Flamel's home is in the eighth district, not far from the Champs-Élysées.
In the old man's own words, he liked the bustling and lively atmosphere here, where he could feel the warmth and human touch.
The two slipped into a shabby-looking roadside shop, Nicolas Flamel gently pressed a small bell on the table.
The wall behind them suddenly began to move, slowly forming a spacious archway entrance.
Stepping inside, a magnificent manor suddenly came into view, only slightly smaller Greengrass family's manor.
However, the manor was not a castle, but a magnificent palace complex, which was incredibly grand at first glance.
"Doesn't it look a lot like Palace of Versailles?" Nicolas Flamel raised an eyebrow with a smile, her tone full of Versailles.
"In the 18th century, I was bored, so I served as an art advisor to Louis XIV for a while."
"And while we're at it, we'll use a little trick to fool him into thinking it's all thanks to alchemy."
"I even gave some suggestions on the construction of Palace of Versailles. Later, seeing how well it was built, I decided to build one for myself too."
Tom gave a thumbs up, thinking to himself, "Living a long life is so carefree; you can meet all sorts of important people."
Louis XIV probably lost out on a lot of good stuff to Nicolas Flamel, but he didn't lose out either, as he lived for over seventy years in that era.
Nicolas Flamel may have secretly helped him a great deal by firmly grasping power in France.
To enter the main palace, one must first pass through a hundred-meter-long hall of mirrors, with hundreds of mirrors and dozens of arched windows embedded in the walls.
Sunlight streamed in, dazzlingly bright. The manor had so many houses that the daily maintenance was entirely handled by five House-elf.
Nicolas Flamel simply assigned Parker to take care of Tom for the next few days, fulfilling all his needs.
