Li Xing felt quite puzzled upon hearing this.
After all, this was merely a minor crisis.
In his past life, even under far more dangerous circumstances, Dr. Brief had never researched weapons, and Bulma certainly hadn't either.
Why, then, would Dr. Brief suddenly propose researching defensive weapons over such a trivial matter?
He called them defensive weapons.
Anyone who knew anything understood the truth.
A weapon was a weapon; there was no such thing as a "defensive" one.
The best defense was a good offense; killing the enemy outright was the most powerful defense of all.
Li Xing grumbled inwardly, though he said nothing aloud.
His purpose in coming here was to recruit a group of brilliant scientists to his side.
With these people on board, the speed at which he could accumulate technology would increase significantly.
Once the discussion concluded, Li Xing left behind some contact information, stating that if they ever lacked funds during their research, they should contact him or the Aurora Group, and they would provide comprehensive support.
The meeting had lasted over three hours.
Just as Li Xing was preparing to leave, a haughty voice rang out behind him.
"You, stop right there!"
A smile tugged at the corners of Li Xing's mouth.
With an energy level of 4,000 and a combat power of 24,000, not to mention possessing all the martial arts memories on Earth, he had sensed this long ago.
He had expected Bulma to keep her cool and stay silent.
Who would have thought she would bring Krillin along and come looking for trouble, full of bluster and bravado?
He turned around to face the fuming Bulma.
"Is there something you need?"
Bulma pointed at Krillin standing beside her.
"I've found a super expert. Well? Do you dare to fight him?"
Sack glanced at Krillin, feeling delighted inside.
His gravity research had hit a bottleneck; could it be that Bulma had delivered a laborer right to his doorstep?
"Sorry, I'm not a martial artist. I'm a businessman."
That one sentence left Krillin stunned.
Bulma was equally dumbfounded.
"That's not right. If you're a businessman, why are you organizing this Martial Arts Tournament?"
Bulma put her hands on her hips and retorted aggressively.
Li Xing rubbed his forehead, looking at Bulma as if she were an idiot.
"Tell me, are you stupid or just dense?"
"What do you mean by that?"
Li Xing stared at Bulma.
"Sigh, and to think you're the young lady of the Hoi-Poi Capsule Corporation. I truly worry for your company; with an IQ like yours, how do you expect to keep it stable?"
Li Xing feigned a shake of his head and a bitter smile.
"What nonsense are you spouting?"
Li Xing stared at Bulma.
"Use your brain, Miss Bulma. Even if you don't understand the Aurora Group, you've at least participated in the West City City Ranking Tournament. Don't just look at the operating expenses of the Aurora Group; look at the revenue as well. Furthermore, what you see is mostly superficial. Who's to say the Aurora Group doesn't have a wealth of hidden, undisclosed technologies that might require martial artists to utilize? The martial artists we gather might just be the Aurora Group's potential customers. Besides, regarding this Kyrieloid incident—if not for our accidental intervention, do you really think it could have been resolved so easily?"
Li Xing spoke brazenly, taking all the credit for himself.
No one knew that the person in question was none other than Li Xing himself.
"Hmph!"
Bulma's expression turned sour, yet she could find no reason to refute him.
She huffed and puffed, her face flushing a deep red.
"How about this? If you truly wish to spar with me, then go ahead and spar with my security guards. Follow me?"
Li Xing tilted his head, looking at Krillin and Bulma.
Bulma looked tempted, but Krillin was deeply hesitant.
Who was he? He was the third-place winner of the World Martial Arts Tournament. If he were to fight the bodyguards of a wealthy tycoon like Li Xing, wouldn't that be bullying? It was better not to offend such a rich man.
"However, if you want to enter my training room, you must undergo a blood test to check for infectious diseases and the like. My training room possesses the most comprehensive exercise equipment in the world. Every one of my bodyguards is a being capable of splitting mountains and shattering rocks. It's not something you can challenge just because you want to; you must pass many rigorous basic tests and meet the standards to even qualify."
Li Xing stared at Krillin with a look of suspicion. He said this specifically to provoke Krillin's rebellious spirit. As long as he participated, Li Xing could be the first to obtain a portion of Krillin's pure Earthling genes. Since he had nothing else to do, he might as well. By researching them in advance, he might find differences and discover something useful. Li Xing did not want to let anything that could enhance his strength slip by, whether it was martial arts or scientific research.
After speaking, Li Xing turned and walked away.
Li Xing was growing increasingly fond of fishing. The feeling of seeing the fish, knowing where they were, intentionally dropping the bait, and quietly waiting for them to take the hook was simply wonderful. Li Xing felt himself immersed in it, unable to extricate himself. This sensation was truly comfortable. He felt like a god, toying with fools.
"Bulma, forget it. This isn't right; it's too much like bullying." Seeing Li Xing turn and walk away, Krillin thought he had seen through Li Xing's intentions, believing that Li Xing was afraid of losing face if Krillin actually fought, which was why he had spoken that way.
Who would have thought that Bulma, upon receiving such provocation, would react even more intensely?
"Idol Krillin, how can we just let this go?" Bulma scolded Krillin with a haughty air, then turned and shouted at Li Xing's retreating back. "You bastard Li Xing, are you afraid?"
Li Xing chuckled.
"You know my group well enough; if you want to challenge us, just come. Oh, and if you defeat my bodyguards, I'll personally give the winner a million-dollar bonus." Li Xing said this airily, then pulled out a Hoi-Poi Capsule, activated his flying car, climbed inside, and vanished into the horizon.
He wouldn't pretend to be incapable of martial arts, but under normal circumstances, he wouldn't easily make a move. The only one who would frequently make a move was the Polar Night, or rather, the Dark Night Monarch—that identity which manipulated everything from the shadows.
After climbing into the flying car, another plan began to swirl in Li Xing's mind. It was no longer appropriate for him to stay here. After all, martial arts tournaments happened every month. He needed to study the human genetic map, figure out how to improve his own strength, and so on. Appearing in public too often was not favorable for him. Since that was the case, he might as well set aside everything at the Aurora Group and go into temporary hiding.
He would research Quantum Teleportation Technology in secret. This technology had to be completed before Vegeta and the others arrived on Earth. A cold glint flashed in Li Xing's eyes. He wanted to build a dark, malevolent force. Facing challenges that would grow increasingly wide in scope, leaving Earth was undoubtedly the most appropriate solution. The prerequisite for all of this was Quantum Teleportation Technology.
"Perhaps I can model it after Asgard from Marvel, creating a Dark God Clan that combines technology, cultivation, and Bifrost technology. I will gradually conquer the entire universe, keeping a group of people in captivity, cultivating them to fight for me on one hand, and sparring with me to provide me with energy on the other."
