Background / History

Bulma first appears traveling from Mount Paozu with Sun Wukong in search of the Dragon Balls. When Li Xing suddenly ambushes their motorcycle, she brakes in time, preventing the vehicle from going over a cliff. Furious at the danger he causes, she later becomes convinced that Li Xing stole Wukong's Four-Star Dragon Ball. 1 3

Using her Dragon Ball Radar, Bulma tracks the Dragon Ball's signal down the mountain. After finding only a scrap of Li Xing's clothing and recovering the ball with Wukong, she believes Li Xing may have died and regrets her earlier certainty that he was a thief. 3

Li Xing later defeats Wukong and Yamcha while disguised in a black wolf mask, seizing the Dragon Balls in Bulma's possession. Bulma is frightened by the masked fighter but becomes flustered by the possibility that he may be handsome; Li Xing takes her capsules and Dragon Balls before knocking her away. 21

After Li Xing kills Yamcha during the martial arts tournament, Bulma joins the pursuit using an aircraft. She deduces that he escaped underwater by using a Hoi-Poi Capsule to deploy a submarine, then vows to make him regret it if she catches him. 34 35

Bulma later visits the Aurora Group to discuss technology with Li Xing. She attempts to force her way inside after refusing to deal with Pilaf, then discovers that Li Xing is the same person involved in the Mount Paozu incident. Their meeting becomes confrontational, with Li Xing criticizing her conduct and Bulma threatening that his tournament will fail without strong participants. 41 42
