The wind whipped up blood and water, the air thick with the scent of rust.
Approaching slowly, Coleman frowned in disgust.
Why couldn't he handle things a bit more cleanly?
There was blood everywhere; where was one supposed to step?
Trying his best to find a spot not soaked in blood, Coleman didn't want his new black leather boots to be stained red today.
Looking around, he finally spotted that dark silhouette by the stream.
The closer he got, the clearer the bloodstains on the figure became.
"Hisoka, let's make a deal: clean up a bit better next time."
What kind of artist leaves their canvas in such a filthy state?
If it's like that, is the painting even worth looking at?
Hisoka, however, acted as if he hadn't heard a word, leaving Coleman with nothing but a silent back.
Raising an eyebrow, Coleman didn't hesitate to toss a sharp dagger his way.
Never touch a beast that has its back turned to you.
Otherwise, you might just get bitten by this unpredictable freak.
Sure enough, before the dagger could even graze Hisoka's shoulder, the man turned his head and swatted it away.
Bloodshot veins swirled hideously in the depths of his eyes; though they were naturally golden, they now showed signs of turning red.
The man rose slowly, then lunged forward with incredible speed.
Like a coiled leopard.
Coleman didn't dodge or weave, merely stepping back a few paces.
"Spider Trap."
The corners of his mouth curled up as he whispered softly.
White threads coiled and wound.
Within seconds, a "web" of unknown composition floated before Coleman.
Hisoka narrowed his eyes, his mouth stretching into a grin.
"Bungee Gum."
He muttered the words, reaching one hand behind him.
His Nen, elastic like chewing gum, latched onto a large rock.
He stopped abruptly in front of the web, the momentum sending the rock connected to his Nen flying forward.
Unsurprisingly, the moment the rock touched the threads, it was sliced into fragments.
Yet, due to limited conditions, Coleman couldn't lay down too many physical threads this time.
Most of the web was composed of threads formed from Nen.
As the rock fell, it ultimately tore through the sticky Nen threads that had detached from their master.
Coleman continued to retreat, showing no intention of fighting.
But this time, he didn't set traps in mid-air.
Instead, he laid down layer after layer of web-like lines just inches above the ground.
Hisoka, lost in his frenzy, didn't notice the ground beneath him in time. The moment the rock shattered the fine threads, he took a short step and charged forward.
Suddenly, his eyes widened, and he forced himself to a halt.
He struggled to control his body, preventing himself from toppling over.
Unable to move a muscle, feeling the stinging pain in his ankles, a bead of cold sweat rolled down Hisoka's forehead.
Taking a few deep breaths, he managed a strained smile.
"You're playing for real?!"
Clearly, the threads beside Hisoka's feet were the ones Coleman usually used for "hunting."
They were extremely aggressive.
They could easily slice a person apart before they even realized it.
They were far sharper than the web he had just woven in the air!
Coleman shrugged, his face full of innocence. "Calm down now?"
"..."
"Rest assured, if I were playing for real, your feet would be off looking for someone to reattach them, right along with my left arm!"
Feeling quite merciful, Coleman had deliberately wrapped the threads in a layer of Nen to avoid having to carry Hisoka to a doctor.
He did it specifically to prevent this guy from accidentally charging into the "trap" without paying attention.
Slowly relaxing his stiffened muscles, Hisoka rubbed his shoulder, baring his teeth in a grimace.
Little Coleman's thin threads were as sharp as ever.
If not for the protective layer formed by his own Nen and Coleman's, those things would have likely sliced right down to the bone.
Still, it hurt like hell right now.
The thin filament had embedded itself into his flesh.
Coleman wound the thread around his hand and gave a sharp tug, retracting all of it except for the one embedded in Hisoka's ankle.
Walking over at a leisurely pace, Coleman produced a small knife.
He severed the thread and gathered up the two resulting pieces.
After glancing left and right, he patted Hisoka's leg.
"It's not broken. Just go to the hospital and get some stitches later."
Speaking with complete indifference, Coleman slowly stood up.
He raised an eyebrow, smiling. "Are you awake now?"
You still want to try and empathize with me?
Are you even cut out for that?
You couldn't even dodge a trap set by me, yet you're thinking about orchestrating a large-scale massacre?
Keep dreaming!
Hisoka shrugged, offering a sheepish smile. "Cough, that method really doesn't suit me."
Besides, compared to those useless ants, Hisoka preferred to savor the fruits he had hand-picked himself.
He was even willing to wait for those fruits to ripen and become entities capable of threatening him.
After all, that was what made the fight interesting!
"Next time, just use my family name."
Coleman said lazily.
"It's just a small fry; the name Zoldyck is still enough to keep them in line."
Walking along, Coleman recognized the head lying on the ground.
It was just a nobody whose name he hadn't even bothered to remember.
Not worth mentioning in polite society.
Letting Hisoka use his family name as a shield didn't matter much.
"I was just afraid your father would hunt me down."
Hisoka argued from behind Coleman.
It wasn't that he had gotten carried away with the killing and forgotten to say anything to those people before starting the fight.
It was just that Silva was too much of a pain to deal with.
"Heh, my father would hunt you down?"
Coleman gave a sarcastic laugh.
You don't pay a single cent, so why would Silva bother killing you?
Do you have any idea how expensive my old man's appearance fee is these days?
He wouldn't even lift a finger for anything less than several billion!
Unless my brother and I were both slacking off.
However...
Rubbing his chin, Coleman pondered for a moment.
Once Killua grows up, it seems like Father will be able to slack off every single day.
Tsk.
Frowning, Coleman felt a bit irritated.
Wouldn't that mean I won't even be able to go home?
Is it really okay that I have to go outside just to smoke a cigarette?
"Coleman, have you been smoking again?"
Hisoka wrinkled his nose, catching a faint scent of tobacco.
Coleman turned back and gave a grunt of acknowledgment.
"Hey, hey, didn't your old man forbid you from smoking?"
Something about how it would expose your position.
Hisoka, however, didn't think much of it.
So what if he was exposed?
Just look at the assassinations performed by your eldest brother.
As long as he deems the group to be weak, he doesn't even bother to hide his figure; he just charges straight into the crowd and strikes down his target.
He leaves behind a bloody mess and simply walks away.
He just walks away!
It's completely brazen!
There's no law or order!
Thinking of this, Hisoka couldn't help but click his tongue.
By comparison, isn't Coleman much better?
At the very least, he fulfills the most basic requirement of an assassin.
Which is to kill from the shadows.
"He's not forbidding it; he just means don't smoke in front of him."
Coleman glanced over and saw the vacant expression on Hisoka's face.
"As for Illumi, it's not that Father can't control him—do you really think the old man doesn't want to?"
Ever since Illumi learned disguise, his methods had become increasingly wild.
He could hide anywhere.
Silva simply didn't have the energy to hunt him down, so he just let him be.
In any case, within the Zoldyck Family right now, the only one Silva could truly feel at ease with was Killua!
And he had begun to show him blatant favoritism.
Although, because Killua had white hair, everyone in the Zoldyck Family gave the child a little extra partiality, more or less.
Including Coleman.
"Ah, speaking of which, Coleman, do you know what your brother has been doing with his disguises lately? Can you try to adjust Illumi's aesthetic?"
Hisoka truly couldn't accept it—why would a delicate, handsome man choose to disguise himself as a guy covered in nails?
Tell me, is that even good-looking?
How is that good-looking at all?!
As the image of Illumi's latest disguise flashed through his mind, Hisoka's face was a picture of indescribable frustration.
"It's fine, isn't it cool?"
Coleman looked at him as if it were only natural.
"Besides, isn't the point of a disguise to make sure people can't associate the person with their original appearance? Looking at your reaction, Brother must be extremely successful with his disguises."
Give me a break, a guy covered in nails is super handsome, okay?
"Then why don't you disguise yourself like that?"
"Good god, that's really ugly!"
"Then why are you still...!"
"But Brother is different. When Brother disguises himself like that, he looks so cool!"
Coleman said with a smile, his eyes filled with genuine appreciation for that aesthetic.
Hisoka took a deep breath and let it out in a slump.
He shouldn't have brought it up with him!
These twins, neither of them was normal!
One was a brother-complex, the other was a brother-complex.
No matter what the other person did to themselves, they were always the best-looking, the coolest!
Hisoka led the way for Coleman, feeling utterly defeated.
Today, at this very moment.
Hisoka unilaterally declared.
He was the most normal kid among the three of them!
What kind of sane person would call someone covered in nails "super handsome"!!!
