Illumi was raised in the Zoldyck Family alongside his twin, Coleman. He regards Coleman not as an independent person but as an extension of himself—something simultaneously dispensable and indispensable, like a limb or shadow. 230

As a young assassin, Illumi went to Heavens Arena, betting 300,000 Jenie that he could reach the 50th floor. During his third day there, he encountered Hisoka, whose fixation on fighting strong opponents made him a recurring nuisance and sparring partner. 10 23
