Carl first sprang excitedly from her chair, then turned a grave look toward Clay.
"Is this route always like this?"

"Good. If anything changes, report it to me immediately."
Carl grinned. Now that the route had been confirmed safe, they could begin sending the children and certain things that could not be exposed to Cake Island.
"As for ships that haven't received permission, you understand..."
Carl sat back down, lounging lazily in her chair with narrowed eyes as she looked at Clay.
