"I told you so, you're finished now."
The bartender sighed and shook his head, looking at Donnie with pity. In his eyes, Donnie was already dead. Blundering into a vampire stronghold meant certain death, with no chance of escape. To those savage vampires, all humans except the Ha-Ghost Clan were just food.
Donnie was furious and terrified.
Someone was definitely setting him up! He just didn't know who!
Donnie gritted his teeth, a flood of thoughts flashing through his mind. The first to surface was the junkyard manager, who had told him about the vehicle modification master here.
Could that manager also be a Ha-Ghost Clan member? Or was he just a pawn, with the real schemer hiding behind the scenes?
It was also possible it was the mysterious person who had sent him the warning message. Anything was possible.
He was still too young, and wishful thinking wouldn't cut it. This world was full of traps, and one wrong step could lead to disaster.
Donnie didn't originally care about being manipulated. In fact, once he set foot on this path, he knew he could never stay out of trouble. It was just that as his strength grew, he could eliminate weaker opponents, making their schemes useless and unable to harm him in the slightest.
In fact, with Donnie's own Spark creations, even without relying on a powerhouse like Optimus Prime, he possessed considerable strength on his own. His phones and watches ensured he had armor and weapons he could assemble and disassemble at will, and the AllSpark granted him enhanced physical abilities and self-healing, giving him the confidence to sustain himself in prolonged battles.
However, dealing with these vampires was his biggest headache!
The Ha-Ghost Clan member, with his keen hearing, widened his eyes, jolting awake from his stupor. He stared at the stranger in disbelief and shrieked, "You're actually human?"
The bar instantly fell silent. The sensitive keyword "human" brought an immediate hush. The revelry ceased, and all eyes turned to Donnie, their gazes filled with mockery and greed.
"New food has arrived." A vampire bared its fangs, greedily sniffing the air. "Who brought it? Weren't we told a VIP was coming to assign tasks today? Food isn't allowed in on such occasions."
"Maybe he delivered himself."
"Do you think the guards at the entrance are idiots? They're vampires, not Ha-Ghost Clan," someone retorted, also a Ha-Ghost Clan member.
The music stopped, and immediately new heavy metal blasted through, the rhythm fierce and exhilarating, igniting the entire bar's atmosphere! The vampires rejoiced at the arrival of new food, seeing it as a good omen—food delivered right to their doorstep.
Donnie gritted his teeth, his nerves on edge. The Spark in his mind blazed brightly, putting him in a state of combat readiness. Donnie felt a fierce battle was imminent.
The vampires in this world were nothing like the "romantic" ones in Twilight. They were monsters who fed on humans and could even convert ordinary people on a massive scale! This meant these filthy creatures could spread rapidly like a virus, with vampires biting people to create new vampires, who would then bite others... Ordinary people were seen as food because the vampires of this world were addicted to human blood; only human blood could sustain them!
More terrifying than a virus!
A single bite from a vampire, as long as the victim didn't die from having all their blood drained, would soon turn them into one of their kind. Major organizations had drugs and serums to inhibit conversion, but Donnie didn't. If he were bitten, he'd be finished. His only option would be to risk seeking help from the nearby S.H.I.E.L.D. or Professor X.
But that carried immense risks. S.H.I.E.L.D. would likely just use the opportunity to study him, potentially creating Donnie clones or cyborgs later. Professor X's situation was far more troublesome; he absolutely couldn't let the professor examine his memories, or it would be game over. No one could guarantee the professor wouldn't suffer brain death.
"Good luck," the bartender said with a touch of pity.
Donnie hesitated. Should he really ask S.H.I.E.L.D. for help? Fighting vampires meant he absolutely couldn't get injured. A moment's carelessness could lead to a bite, and then it would all be over.
For thousands of years, humanity had waged countless wars against vampires, but each time, the vampires managed to return, proving impossible to eradicate and incredibly formidable.
Part of the reason was the vampires' nature. Their long lifespans always captivated some high-ranking humans, who willingly became vampires themselves and worked for their interests. This alone gave the vampires ample room to maneuver. As long as ordinary people feared death, the vampires would never be wiped out!
Donnie wasn't afraid of fighting anyone, but these vampires instilled a deep sense of dread in him. They looked identical to humans but possessed long lifespans and powerful physiques, and they could also conduct research and wield high-tech weapons.
"What about this food, did you eat it?" a vampire asked greedily, wanting to feast on Donnie in public.
The Ha-Ghost Clan member who had exposed Donnie said, "The VIP is arriving soon, and this chaos will create a bad impression."
The vampires glared menacingly at the Ha-Ghost Clan member, growling low warnings for him not to interfere in vampire affairs.
"Don't think you're qualified to meddle. If you spout any more nonsense, I'll kill you first," a vampire threatened.
The Ha-Ghost Clan were ordinary people obsessed with immortality, willingly serving the vampires and bearing tattoos on the back of their necks, hoping to one day be converted into vampires and enjoy eternal life. They had betrayed humanity, betrayed their own kind, and willingly became lackeys.
The old bartender mixed a drink and handed it to Donnie, saying with pity, "Drink this. May you rest in peace."
That old geezer, you rest in peace, and your whole family too.
The vampires and Ha-Ghost Clan members roared with laughter, egging Donnie on to drink the liquor.
Donnie's face darkened as he quickly assessed the combat power of both sides.
Vampires were extremely difficult to kill by conventional means. Their astonishing regenerative and damage-resistant capabilities allowed them to ignore many minor injuries. Silver, sunlight, and garlic were effective, but he didn't have time to find those items now.
If he mobilized Optimus Prime for backup outside, he could go on a rampage fully armed inside and break out without much difficulty. However, ensuring he didn't get injured would be tough. This was a vampire stronghold; he wouldn't believe it if they didn't have heavy weaponry.
His only option now was to fight desperately. If he got bitten, he'd just defect to S.H.I.E.L.D. and have them administer the treatment serum.
Suddenly, the entire bar erupted in commotion. Someone shouted, "The VIP is here! Prepare to welcome them!"
"What about this guy? Get rid of him quickly."
"Drag him away, kill him, drain his blood, and keep him as reserve food. Don't let any food linger here and obstruct the view."
The vampires were getting impatient. They wanted to please the VIP, who was rumored to be a pure-blood vampire, born a vampire! This was an extraordinary individual, born with noble status, whom they, the posthumously converted, couldn't compare to.
"Hey, who's the modification master?" Donnie asked anxiously, grabbing the old bartender.
"It's me. I'm the renowned modification master. What do you want?"
"Are you a vampire? Or Ha-Ghost Clan?"
"Neither. I'm human now, but I'll probably become a vampire soon." The old bartender sounded a bit sad, sighing deeply, lamenting his misfortune of being caught here.
Donnie hoisted the old bartender over his shoulder and started walking, a watch transforming and assembling into a firearm. Several other watches quickly formed partial armor to protect part of Donnie's upper body. Two phones popped out, transforming into two mini-transformers, brandishing chainsaws menacingly.
Before anyone else could be surprised by this bizarre sight, the old bartender cried out, "What are you doing? I didn't offend you!"
"The moment I stepped into this den of beasts, you offended me!" Donnie gritted his teeth. "If I wasn't looking for you, why would I be here in the first place? I never go to bars normally!"
Donnie strode forward with the old bartender slung over his shoulder. He intended to take the man and charge out. Once they were outside, everything could turn around.
The vampires stirred, preparing to act.
