Donnie was originally an ordinary truck driver who named his first truck Optimus Prime. He died in a traffic accident and awakened as a newborn in a world containing superheroes, Gotham, and Metropolis. He adapted quickly to reincarnation, treating the new life as something to accept rather than fear 1.

His second family ran a modest New York delivery business. Donnie helped his parents with their worn delivery truck, which he considered a family member as much as a vehicle.
