Jin City Commandery

Jin City Six Gates is a substantially larger commandery-level organization led by Copper-Badge Captain Han Tongxiao. Below the Copper-Badge level are more than a dozen Purple-Clad Officers and intelligence agents, as well as numerous Green-Clad and Brown-Clad officers. 195

The commandery can mobilize officers and constables from its subordinate local branches. Its Purple-Clad Officers are generally stronger than their county counterparts, with many having completed the Primary Meridians and begun cultivating the Eight Extraordinary Meridians. 195

History

Shuang'an Town Bandit Suppression

Nine Six Gates constables led by Green-Clad Officer Li Dingfang arrived in Shuang'an Town amid a roaming-bandit crisis. Wearing bamboo hats and dark cloaks, they entered through a route believed to be watched by bandits without alerting anyone. 12

Li Dingfang's team had mapped the positions and defenses of roughly two hundred bandits within a day. They then joined forty militia members in a night raid, with the nine constables forming the spearhead of the assault. 13

During the attack, Li Dingfang killed a sentry immediately upon entering the camp, and the remaining constables drew their blades in unison to lead the assault. 14

Green Mountain City Investigations

In Green Mountain City, Six Gates investigated wanted criminals, arson, and Clear Wind Stronghold infiltration. Duan Mu handled Chen Jing's case after he killed two wanted men, formally recording the incident and confirming that rewards applied under Six Gates rules. 42

The organization uncovered Zhou Yunhan as a Clear Wind Stronghold insider who had used his position at White Horse Pharmacy to provide the stronghold with medicine, silver, and intelligence. 47

Li Dingfang subsequently ordered a full investigation of White Horse Pharmacy, including its account books, warehouses, correspondence, and personnel, while requiring the Bai family to cooperate. 48

Recruitment of Chen Jing

Li Dingfang recruited Chen Jing after recognizing his martial talent, sharp judgment, and ruthlessness. He warned that such qualities required restraint, or Chen Jing could become like the bandits he fought. 67

Chen Jing chose to become a Wind-Catching Scout rather than an ordinary constable. He began as an unranked Brown-Clad officer and received an assignment to investigate a missing scout and Clear Wind Stronghold activity in River Temple Village. 69 70

After completing missions against Clear Wind Stronghold agents and reporting the leakage of military crossbows, Chen Jing was promoted to Ninth-Rank Secret Agent. 101 102

War Against Clear Wind Stronghold

Six Gates investigated Clear Wind Stronghold's network of spies, hidden outposts, military equipment, and cooperating factions. The organization discovered evidence that Shangchuan Sect had been secretly transporting medicinal herbs to the stronghold. 104 119

An early attempt by Yin Zhengping, Li Dingfang, Duan Mu, and selected experts to infiltrate Clear Wind Stronghold and assassinate its chief failed, leaving Li Dingfang and Duan Mu injured and forcing the organization to seek reinforcements from Jin City Commandery. 131

Later, Yin Zijing led Six Gates officers and government troops in a coordinated assault on Ox-Crouching Mountain. Eight hundred armored elites surrounded the mountain while the Six Gates contingent infiltrated the stronghold and struck at its leadership. 145 147

Yin Zijing defeated the Chief of Clear Wind Stronghold with a single sword stroke, triggering the bandits' collapse. 148 149

The organization captured Shang Youyan alive and paraded the captured stronghold members through Green Mountain City following the victory. Yin Zijing distributed rewards to the officers who had distinguished themselves during the campaign. 155

Shangchuan Sect Arrests

After Clear Wind Stronghold's destruction and the capture of Shang Youyan, Six Gates moved against Shangchuan Sect for its collusion with the bandits. Chen Jing led four Blue-Clad Officers and one hundred Clove-Clad Constables to the sect. 162

Chen Jing presented an arrest warrant for Sect Master Luo Congnan and warned that resistance would be treated as rebellion against the imperial court. When sect disciples and enforcement elders intervened, he defeated them and carried Luo Congnan away under arrest. 163 165

Although Luo Congnan and the elders involved in the collusion were executed, Shangchuan Sect itself remained in operation. The Ba Alliance selected a replacement sect master, reflecting a political compromise between Six Gates and the alliance. 177

North City Purge

Six Gates later mobilized nearly its full force to arrest officials and noble families implicated in the Clear Wind Stronghold case. Chen Jing's forty-man unit participated in the night operation, beginning with the residence of County Magistrate Song. 173

Imperial Prison Security Incident

While most available officers were deployed to respond to an emergency at Flower Moon Street, four former Clear Wind Stronghold members infiltrated the Six Gates compound and broke into the Imperial Prison. They cut through the prison's refined-iron lock using the Black Gold Blade and descended to the second underground level. 169

The intruders believed that Shang Youyan was imprisoned there, but Chen Jing had disguised himself as the captive and used the apparent assassination opportunity as a trap. He killed or incapacitated the attackers during the ensuing close-quarters battle. 169 170

Cui Xingkong Pursuit

Six Gates participated in the pursuit of Cui Xingkong after he abducted a Liu family young lady. Multiple officer teams established a three-sided encirclement, but Cui Xingkong broke through after defeating several officers and evading the Green-Clad Officer known as Skyward Staff. 183

Jin City Service

After arriving in Jin City as a Purple-Clad Officer, Chen Jing was assigned to the Anti-Theft Bureau under Wei Huai. He was made responsible for East Market security, with the Green-Clad Officers assigned to the district reporting to him. 197

Six Gates later investigated the hijacking of an ore ship and detained Lu Yunqiao, though prolonged Imperial Prison interrogation failed to establish whether the Fanyun Fortress remnants had acted alone or under outside direction. 222

Chen Jing and Ji Lin attended Chu Cangyuan's birthday banquet as Six Gates representatives, demonstrating the organization's official standing in Jin City's complex network of martial, commercial, and political forces. 222

Baili Sword Manor Investigation

Six Gates surrounded Azure Source Mountain with government troops and entered Baili Sword Manor to investigate Baili Xinming's suspected involvement in a conspiracy and attempted cover-up. Chen Jing led the operation, which secured the manor lord, elders, and direct disciples for questioning. 245 249

Although interrogation established that Baili Sword Manor was not responsible for the underlying conspiracy, Han Tongxiao ordered the elders involved in obstructing law enforcement detained for dereliction of supervisory duty. Six Gates publicly described the manor's involvement as assistance with an investigation, preserving a measure of its dignity. 249
