"Yes." Dumbledore nodded. "Voldemort used the Cruciatus Curse on Herpo at the time."
"He used the Cruciatus Curse on Herpo?" Wizet's eyelid twitched. "Could it be that Herpo and that Calchas... didn't resist?"
"No." Dumbledore shook his head gently.
"That sounds like..." Wizet frowned. "Herpo's status has declined rather severely?"
Based on the memories he had obtained from Morgana le Fay, something like using the Cruciatus Curse on Herpo would have been absolutely impossible within the Isaiah Society.
Combined with Dumbledore's account, Wizet could easily imagine the way Herpo and Voldemort now got along... That so-called "cooperation" was certainly nowhere near as equal as the word implied.
"Yes." Dumbledore seemed to have guessed what Wizet was thinking and nodded with a sigh.
His tone was somewhat heavier than before. "The relationship between Herpo and Calchas... seems to have run into a bit of trouble."
"Before Calchas was resurrected, Herpo had in fact erupted into a rather brutal conflict with him—and even with the other core members of the Isaiah Society."
"Only after that conflict did the Isaiah Society truly fall apart. Following a series of upheavals, Herpo made his current decision... to cooperate with Voldemort."
"After Calchas was resurrected, he constantly cursed at Herpo. It was through those curses that I learned the full story."
He smiled faintly as he summed it up. "At the very least, I can be certain that Herpo and Calchas do not have a particularly good relationship."
"Even so, I think..." Wizet thoughtfully took up the thread, "Calchas and Herpo should still be... on the same side."
"The hatred between them does not touch their foundations. They may simply look down on Voldemort, or perhaps they do not truly acknowledge him."
