Cho Chang raised a hand and introduced him. "Lee Jordan, third-year Gryffindor student and well-known Quidditch commentator."
"Heh! I'm not that famous!" Lee Jordan took the opportunity to step into the compartment. "Have you done Professor Flitwick's homework?"
"I only realized after I got home yesterday that I'd left my new textbook in Africa. It won't get sent to school until tomorrow. But I haven't written a single word of the Preview Exam Paper Professor Flitwick assigned!"
The corners of Cho Chang's mouth curved in a not-quite-smile, as if to say: See? Gryffindor students are like this. Homework carries no weight in their hearts at all.
Cho Chang explained patiently, "You should ask someone else. I'm a second-year student, and this is Wizet, a new student this year."
"Cho Chang! I know you!" Lee Jordan put on a teasing expression. "In that match last school year, Cedric failed to catch the Golden Snitch because he seemed to get distracted looking at you!"
"Ahem, ahem, ahem..." Cho Chang's cheeks flushed red. She seemed to choke, coughing several times in a row. "Did you perhaps mistake me for someone else...? I'm a Ravenclaw student."
Lee Jordan lifted his eyebrows high, looking indignant. "As a commentator, my duty is to capture the brilliant moments of a match!"
"You were wearing this Tutshill Tornados uniform back then too. I remember it perfectly clearly. I absolutely can't be wrong. I can swear on my Bag Spider!"
"But I still suggest you ask someone else." Cho Chang hurriedly cut Lee Jordan off. "We really can't help you."
"Then can I stay here for a while?" Lee Jordan sighed. "When Fred and the others get on the train, I'll see if they brought their textbooks."
"As you like." Cho Chang did not refuse.
Wizet asked, "Fred? May I ask if that's Fred Weasley?"
Lee Jordan lit up at once. "That's right! Him! Fred and George are twins, and I'm close friends with them! You know them too?"
Wizet nodded. "The Weasley family helped me before, so I suppose we know each other."
"So we're all acquaintances!" Lee Jordan let out another long sigh and began to complain. "I really don't want to spend all my time on homework. This Bag Spider's venom is brilliant!"
"When I was in Africa, I did experiments with this Bag Spider. Even if your tongue only touched the tiniest bit of venom, it would swell up immediately!"
"If Fred and the others came over, we could do experiments together! If it weren't for this rotten homework... What a pity. I've already asked several people, but none of them would lend me their homework to copy!"
"Wouldn't lend it..." Wizet once again noticed Lee Jordan's pocket. "You want to borrow homework to copy, and your payment is letting them touch the Bag Spider?"
Lee Jordan nodded repeatedly. "Of course! This isn't an ordinary Bag Spider. Its venom contains magic. It's very rare! As rare as a wizard among Muggles!"
Wizet understood now why no one had lent Lee Jordan their homework.
Touching a spider... No matter how he thought about it, it was rather creepy.
This black boy was an restless sort.
Perhaps it was due to racial talent, but his desire to talk was especially strong.
After Lee Jordan learned that Wizet knew Fred and the others, he immediately acted like they were old friends and began holding forth, introducing each House.
"Gryffindor is, of course, the best House! Do you know Headmaster Dumbledore? He's one of us Gryffindors! Everything about it is the best!"
"Er... Ravenclaw isn't bad either. If only Cho Chang were in my year. Ravenclaw's homework has the highest accuracy!"
"Hufflepuffs are all very friendly. That heartthrob, Cedric... They eat the most food. I really don't know where they get it from!"
"Slytherin? It produces dark wizards in droves. It's the worst House. You-Know-Who was a Slytherin. Those people will do anything to win the House Cup, and their Head is a point-deducting maniac!"
"You-Know-Who... That title is rather strange." Wizet felt that the title sounded somewhat familiar.
He suddenly remembered. It was one of Voldemort's true aliases, though he was generally called "the noseless freak" or "the two-hole socket."
"That name wasn't funny back then." Lee Jordan swallowed, and his voice turned strained. "He was the most dangerous dark wizard in history!"
"I heard my dad say that the people killed by You-Know-Who were enough to form an army of Inferi! Even the so-called 'You-Know-Who' is just a substitute name, because we don't dare say his real name."
"He was actually that dangerous?" Wizet frowned. "I've only heard of Grindelwald... He seems to have been a very dangerous dark wizard too."
The name Gellert Grindelwald was something he had learned from the film Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
At least in the film, Grindelwald's combat ability was extremely powerful. Even when facing MACUSA Aurors on his own, he could handle them with ease.
"That's from even longer ago." Lee Jordan shrugged. "It was Headmaster Dumbledore who defeated Grindelwald. That's all I know. You definitely can't go wrong coming to Gryffindor!"
Cho Chang, who had finished wiping down her broomstick, said, "If you're interested in Grindelwald and You-Know-Who, you can read A History of Modern Magic. It has more detailed records."
Time soon reached ten-thirty. Lee Jordan, his mouth dry from talking, finally settled down and began trying to make up his homework blindly.
"Reparo... The spell is spelled R... R-what was it? Repair! It's a spell used to fix things... Who invented it, some English person? I think I saw it before..."
Cho Chang buried her head in a book called Quidditch Through the Ages, her shoulders shaking terribly. From time to time, little pfft sounds could be heard.
Wizet swept through the books in his mind and found The Standard Book of Spells, Grade 3.
For the books recorded in his mind, as long as Wizet intentionally searched for related words, he could find the corresponding passages at an extremely fast speed, as simple as using a computer to search keywords.
There were seven volumes in the set of The Standard Book of Spells, corresponding to Hogwarts's seven years of Charms classes.
It was precisely for this reason that when he had been reading for free in Flourish and Blotts, he had simply recorded all seven volumes.
Following the introduction in The Standard Book of Spells, Grade 3, he read aloud, "Mr. Jordan, the incantation for the Mending Charm is 'Reparo.'"
"If you need the full explanation of this magic, then it should be 'a spell that can be used to seamlessly repair most damaged objects.'"
"Are you sure?" Lee Jordan's eyes lit up, as if he had seen a lifeline, and he grabbed Wizet's shoulders at once.
"Is the book you left in Africa called The Standard Book of Spells, Grade 3?"
"Yes, yes, yes! That's the one!"
"Then there's no mistake. When I was buying books earlier, I thought this one looked pretty interesting, so I noted it down while I was at it."
"Noted... noted it down? Is that something a normal person can do? Do you really not know You-Know-Who?"
"Mm. Just now, when you read the question out, I remembered it right away," Wizet said with a nod. "If you're not sure, you can check the answers with Fred and George again when they come over."
"I'll try it myself first." Lee Jordan pulled a tissue from his pocket and tore it straight into several pieces. "Rep... aro... Reparo!"
He practiced over and over according to that question on the Preview Exam Paper. After a dozen or so attempts, the tissue could barely be considered pieced back together.
Magic required repeated attempts in the first place. The fact that the tissue could be joined together without falling apart showed that both the principle and incantation of Reparo were correct.
"Genius! My good brother, you're a genius!" Even Lee Jordan's way of addressing him changed. He snatched the Preview Exam Paper over. "Help me look at this one too!"
