"Although I don't know..." His tone remained as cold as before. "Why the magic you cast produces this effect."
With a click, the skull reappeared over his head. He opened and closed his jaws as he spoke again. "But it doesn't matter that much anymore."
He raised the hand covered in bone, lazily spread his fingers, and lightly clenched the air.
"Petrificus Totalus!"
The instant the incantation left his mouth, a ring of magical energy rippled outward from him.
The incoming magical wave could even be called gentle, like a breeze brushing across their faces.
Everyone instinctively tried to resist, but it had no effect whatsoever. Even Dumbledore and Gellert Grindelwald were imprisoned by the spell.
They froze in the positions they had held a second earlier. Though they could sense everything around them and see My Lord's every subsequent movement, they could do nothing—not even blink.
It was as though the entire world had been paused, with only My Lord able to move freely.
Not far from My Lord, Voldemort's fingers twitched.
He struggled to open his eyes. His vision was blurred at first, then gradually cleared, followed immediately by searing pain.
Voldemort knew perfectly well what he needed to focus on right now.
He hurriedly shifted his gaze. First, he noticed My Lord's strange appearance, then he saw the crumbling wand in Selina Pendragon's hand, and could not help frowning.
Voldemort saw it even more clearly now. Selina Pendragon shook the fragments from her hand and accepted a wand someone passed her. When a pillar of white light surged forth, that wand shattered as well.
Selina Pendragon's movements were so smooth, so practiced, that Voldemort's eyes widened.
That motion of changing wands, that instant when the wand shattered... he knew them all too well.
That damned woman!
