Before long, dinner was brought up from downstairs: northern-style roast meat, dry bread, and soup with beads of oil floating on top.
The taste was nothing special, but in weather like this, it was decent enough. At least they had something hot to eat.
They dipped the bread in the soup, alternating bites of bread and meat until they had eaten everything.
Hilde had considered the possibility that the food was poisoned, but she was immune to poisons. Ordinary poisons would have no effect on her, and even if one did, intermediate detoxification magic was generally enough to handle most toxins, so she had not told Isolte and Nina to be overly wary.
After dinner, Hilde used magic to create a slightly larger bathtub.
She filled it with hot water for bathing.
After so many days, they could finally take a bath. Both Nina and Isolte were delighted. After all, however strong they were as swordswomen, they were still girls. They could endure hardships while traveling, but discomfort was still discomfort, and whenever they had a chance to wash themselves, they were more than happy to take it.
Not to mention that the recent battles had left them smelling of monster blood, which was hard to clean off with a simple wipe.
Before they could start bathing, however, a small argument broke out.
The tub was not particularly large, so only one person could wash at a time.
To be safe, Hilde insisted that the other two stay in the room whenever one of them bathed. After all, the food they had just eaten might have been poisoned. If the poison took effect during a bath and Hilde was not nearby, things could turn ugly.
Nina felt a little embarrassed, but since they were all girls, she figured it would
