Background / History

Chen Liujia’s real name is largely unknown; the name “Chen Liujia” was bestowed upon him by an emperor after his overwhelming performance in the previous dynasty’s martial examinations. He placed first-class in all six tested fields—horseback archery, foot archery, heavy-bow drawing, great-saber wielding, stone-lock lifting, and military strategy essays—and defeated ten first-rank saber-bearing guards alone during the palace examination. 16

He later served as Commander of the Dragon Guard and as Emperor Tianyi’s first martial instructor. After resigning to pursue martial arts more deeply, he concealed his identity and settled in Shen City. 16

Before accepting Jiang Wangzu, Chen had taken six true disciples. His first four true disciples died by his own hand: one founded an evil cult, one attempted to murder him, one became involved with his master’s wife, and one suffered qi deviation and entered a demonic path. Han Qiao became his fifth true disciple; Jiang Wangzu is his sixth. 42

Nurturing Jiang Wangzu

After witnessing Jiang’s rapid Iron Garment Skill progress, Chen begins supplying Black Iron Paste, medicinal baths, guidance, and regular training through Han Qiao. He identifies Jiang as an unusually promising hard-body cultivator despite his initially poor roots and bones. 26 27 29

Exchange for Martial Inheritance
