Nappa Brings Prince Vegeta to Visit, the Brat Calls Me an Idiot the Moment He Opens His Mouth
"Beep, beep, beep—"
The piercing electronic buzz was like an electric drill, gouging hard into Gou Kong's eardrums.
He buried his face deep in the pillow, his rough hand fumbling around the headboard as he tried to kill the source of the noise ruining his sleep.
"Fuck, where is it?"
The sound was right by his ear, stubborn as ever, making his brain ache.
Gou Kong frowned in irritation and forced himself to struggle up out of the abyss of his hangover. His heavy body felt as if it had been filled with lead, and it took a real effort just to prop his upper half up in bed.
He narrowed his bleary eyes and looked toward the source of the sound. Rage immediately surged up in him.
"Fuck me, are you putting on an acrobatics show over there?"
The damn alarm clock had been thrown onto the storage shelf above his head by his own hand the night before.
The shelf was absurdly high, clearly a "tactical high ground" Gou Kong had deliberately arranged to stop himself from turning off the alarm after drinking himself into a blackout. At that moment, the alarm clock was swaying smugly on the edge of the shelf, its red warning light flashing like a disco ball as it let out mocking "beep beep" sounds again and again.
"I really had nothing better to do, huh..."
Gou Kong gnashed his teeth and glared at the arrogant alarm clock as his memories returned.
Every time he woke up hungover, he swore he would never drink too much again, but every time there was a celebration, that vow was tossed straight to the farthest clouds.
He scratched at his bird's-nest hair in frustration and climbed out of bed with difficulty.
His steps felt unsteady, like he was walking on cotton. Gou Kong staggered over to the shelf, stretched out his arm, and slammed down on the stop button.
"Click."
The red light went out, and the world finally fell quiet.
However, what followed right after was a wave of dizziness that churned through his head.
The aftereffects of the hangover were like a swarm of little devils beating drums inside his skull, one strike after another, making his temples throb violently.
"Hiss... That booze yesterday really packed a punch."
Gou Kong rubbed his forehead and recalled yesterday's celebration banquet.
To celebrate Raditz's promotion to elite warrior, as well as his assignment to Prince Vegeta's squad, he and Bardock had gone all out drinking.
That powerful Saiyan liquor had enough kick to bring down even a body of steel and iron.
As for how much he had drunk and what he had done, aside from remembering Bardock's face flushed red from alcohol, the rest was basically blank.
"Hope I didn't embarrass myself in front of Bardock... and didn't say anything stupid to Gine."
He muttered, then turned and walked to the refrigerated cabinet in the corner of the room. He yanked open the door, took out a bottle of chilled high-energy mineral water, tilted his head back, and gulped down a big mouthful. The cold liquid slid down his esophagus, slightly suppressing the churning in his stomach.
Since he was awake, he had to clean himself up.
Gou Kong casually pulled off the sweat-soaked, alcohol-reeking dark-blue bodysuit he was wearing, bared his lean, powerful upper body, and walked straight into the shower room.
"Need a shower to clear my head."
He reached out and shoved the temperature lever hard toward the blue "cold" zone, then pressed the start switch.
The next second.
"Aaaargh—! Fuck!"
A miserable scream instantly rang through the entire bathroom.
That was not bathing. That was torture.
The icy water was like icicles in the dead of winter, stabbing viciously into his burning-hot skin.
Gou Kong snapped awake in an instant. The dizziness of the hangover was completely scattered by that bone-chilling shock, replaced by the illusion that he had fallen into a polar glacier.
"Too fucking brutal! Who is this water trying to freeze to death?"
As he yelled, he hopped around in the narrow shower stall, arms crossed tightly as he rubbed furiously at the skin now covered in goosebumps.
How was this a shower? It was clearly a challenge to the limits of the human body. He even suspected the water was connected directly to Planet Vegeta's permafrost layer.
Cursing was one thing, but Gou Kong still gritted his teeth and endured it.
As a Saiyan, he at least had that much tolerance.
By the time he finally shut off the valve and walked out, his whole body was flushed red. Though his lips were slightly purple from the cold, his eyes were far sharper than before.
"Phew... Refreshing!"
He looked at himself in the mirror, steam rising from his body, and grinned, revealing a mouthful of stark white teeth.
Though he had suffered for it, the effect was obvious. The hangover and drowsiness were both gone.
He secretly swore that next time, even if he got dead drunk, he would never pull some crazy stunt like taking a cold shower again.
After changing into a clean bodysuit and battle armor, Gou Kong walked into the living room and sank his entire body into the soft sofa.
He casually grabbed the remote and turned on the liquid-crystal display mounted on the wall.
To be honest, Saiyan television programs were boring as hell.
No matter the channel, it was always the same things over and over: combat footage, invasion reports, or mukbang streams of those crude guys wolfing down food.
For Saiyans, who were desperately starved for mental entertainment, there seemed to be nothing besides fighting and eating that could hold their interest.
Gou Kong did not expect to find anything fascinating in there either. He was purely trying to add a little life to the deathly silent room.
After all, staring at cold metal walls all day would drive even a Saiyan insane.
"There are still a few days left of my vacation. What should I do today?"
He crossed his arms behind his head as a pillow, his brow faintly furrowed, and sank into thought.
After thinking it over and over, his mind was completely blank.
Training?
That was routine.
Eating and drinking?
He had just stuffed himself yesterday.
As for other forms of entertainment...
In the society of this warrior race, they simply did not exist.
No games, no movies, and there were pitifully few people to even chat with.
"Don't tell me I'm supposed to squat in the Gravity Chamber all day again?"
Gou Kong felt rather helpless.
For Saiyans, raising their combat power was the greatest pleasure, but training nonstop in shifts really did get a little dull.
He was just wondering whether he should go out onto the streets and look for some new flavor of steak when suddenly, the doorbell rang.
"Ding—"
The crisp electronic chime sounded especially abrupt in the quiet room.
"Hm?"
Gou Kong froze for a moment.
Who would come looking for him at a time like this?
As King Vegeta's personal guard, aside from urgent military affairs, very few people would come directly to his door.
Somewhat puzzled, he stood up and walked to the entrance with heavy steps, then pulled open the alloy door.
Outside the door stood two figures.
One was a familiar face with a burly build and muscles all over: Nappa.
This guy might not have had the sharpest mind, but he was honest and simple, one of the few Saiyans Gou Kong could actually tolerate.
But what made Gou Kong's eyelids twitch wildly was the tiny brat standing behind Nappa.
"Yo, Nappa."
Gou Kong greeted him, but his gaze drifted uncontrollably to the figure behind Nappa.
It was an extremely young Saiyan, with a head of untamed black hair thrusting upward like flames. His little face was held tight, his arms crossed before his chest, his neck tilted up, and he was glaring fixedly at Gou Kong with a pair of sharp, threatening eyes.
That look was outrageously arrogant, as if he were ready at any moment to punch this "big guy" in front of him.
This little brat... where did he pop out from?
Gou Kong muttered inwardly.
That face, that hairstyle, that punchable expression...
Why did he look so familiar?
Before he could ask, the little guy struck first.
"What are you looking at, you idiot!"
The childish yet gunpowder-filled voice struck Gou Kong's ears like a thunderclap.
Gou Kong petrified on the spot.
In all his life, he had never been cursed out like that by a child.
Even among the foot soldiers of the Frieza Force, no one dared speak to him like that.
He turned his head stiffly and looked at Nappa, his eyes filled with a message that said, "Are you fucking kidding me?"
Nappa was clearly awkward to death too. His huge body shrank in on itself, and he scratched the back of his head, the expression on his face as if he had just eaten bitter melon.
"Brother Gou Kong, about this..." Nappa stammered and stuttered, unable to squeeze out a complete sentence for a long while.
Seeing Nappa's cowardly look, Gou Kong's curiosity instantly overpowered the anger of being insulted.
If something could make Nappa this troubled and even bring up the royal family's banner, it definitely was not a small matter.
"Who is this little guy?" Gou Kong asked in a low voice, his gaze locking once more onto that arrogant little bean sprout. "You brought a cub to my place and let him curse at me... What order from King Vegeta did you receive?"
Hearing the words "King Vegeta," Nappa seemed to find a life-saving straw and quickly nodded and bowed. "Right, right, right! It is precisely the king's order! Brother Gou Kong, you might not know yet, but our Prince Vegeta only recently hatched from the incubation pod..."
"Prince Vegeta?"
Gou Kong's pupils suddenly contracted.
He lowered his head and looked again at the little guy who only came up to his knees.
Flame-like hair, an arrogant face, a faint battle power that nevertheless carried an innate nobility...
Holy shit!
A storm of shock instantly surged through Gou Kong's heart.
Wasn't this that tsundere Prince Vegeta?
That Vegeta who would destroy Earth in the future and call himself the prince of the universe?
And right now he was just... this tiny?
