Vegeta was born in Age 733 as King Vegeta's son and the Saiyan heir. He emerged from his cultivation pod unusually early and was recognized as an elite warrior, possessing more than 1,000 battle power before age three. He later formed a combat squad with Raditz, an upper-class warrior assigned to serve alongside him. 3 11

When Nappa brought the young prince to Gou Kong, Vegeta immediately dismissed Gou Kong as a low-class warrior. Nappa asked Gou Kong to train the prince, and Vegeta accepted a spar after discovering Gou Kong's 11,000 battle power. Despite being badly outmatched, Vegeta fought with full force, raised his power from 3,000 to 3,200, used repeated ki blasts, and continued demanding to fight after being knocked unconscious. 12 13 14 15 16

King Vegeta subsequently reassigned Gou Kong from the Royal Guard to serve as Vegeta's full-time sparring instructor. Over the next several years, Gou Kong trained Vegeta and Raditz through punishing combat sessions. By age six, Vegeta had surpassed 9,000 battle power and was ready to undertake independent missions with Raditz. 17 18 19

During Beerus's visit to the Saiyan palace, Vegeta charged at the God of Destruction to defend his father. Beerus's pressure forced him face-first to the floor, after which Beerus held him aloft and intended to punish him in place of the Saiyans. Gou Kong ultimately rescued Vegeta from Beerus's destructive energy. 21 22 23

Following Planet Vegeta's destruction, Vegeta continued operating with Raditz and Nappa. Years later, after learning that Kakarot had refused the planned conquest of Earth, he set course for the planet himself. His estimated battle power was at least 30,000, and his arrival was expected within one year. 50

Vegeta later arrived on Earth with Nappa and the female Saiyan Turles. He confronted Gou Kong over his intervention in the previous Earth operation and attempted to compel Raditz to rejoin his squad. Vegeta's measured power reached 39,800, substantially above Raditz's earlier estimate, while Turles possessed an even greater energy signature. 54 55

During the ensuing conflict, Vegeta showed no concern when the defeated Nappa begged for help and allowed Turles to execute him as worthless. When Gou Kong nearly killed Turles, however, Vegeta generated Blutz Waves and assumed his Great Ape form to protect her, identifying her as the only surviving Saiyan woman capable of helping restore their race. 58 59 70

After being defeated on Earth and recovering in a Medical Pod, Vegeta learned that Frieza had gone to Namek. He immediately made Namek's Dragon Balls his priority, intending to use immortality to escape Frieza's control, repeatedly exploit Saiyan recovery growth, and eventually surpass Frieza. He also began relying less on Scouters after learning from Earth's ki-based fighting methods. 81

On Namek, Vegeta and Turles initially opposed Gou Kong's group, but Vegeta was forced to reconsider after Gou Kong revealed Frieza's additional transformations and the truth behind the destruction of Planet Vegeta. He reluctantly cooperated with Gou Kong, Goku, Krillin, Gohan, and Turles against Frieza's forces, killing a Ginyu Force member and later joining the battle against Frieza himself. 86 87 100

Vegeta's attempt to gain immortality failed when the Grand Elder's death rendered Namek's Dragon Balls inert before Dende could complete the wish. Enraged, Vegeta seized and shook Dende until Gou Kong intervened. 108

At a later point, Vegeta attained the Super Saiyan transformation. When Future Trunks and Bulla arrived on Earth, he demonstrated the form alongside Goku; both visitors then revealed that they could transform as well. 124

Personality

Vegeta is intensely proud of his royal blood and elite status. He initially treats Gou Kong with contempt, calls him a low-class warrior, and cannot tolerate being disregarded or surpassed. Even after learning that Gou Kong's power exceeds King Vegeta's, he insists that he will eventually surpass everyone and become the strongest Saiyan in history. 13 14

His pride is paired with exceptional resilience. He refuses to concede after defeat, repeatedly rises after heavy blows, and fights on despite exhaustion and injury. Gou Kong recognizes this refusal to submit as genuine Saiyan fighting spirit. 15 16

Though outwardly harsh, Vegeta matures through his training and develops a more practical outlook. Before departing on his first independent mission, he acknowledges Raditz's usefulness despite openly considering him foolish. He also shows subtle emotion when Gou Kong gives him parting advice, though he dismisses it with sarcasm. 19

As an adult, Vegeta remains arrogant and contemptuous toward anyone he considers weak. He dismisses Nappa as pathetic after his defeat and later speaks abusively to Turles over her loss to Gou Kong. 58 59 70
