Love Potion! It's Full of Love Potion!
The farce ended, and the corridor gradually returned to normal.
Malfoy moved closer to Lucien, as if the awkwardness from before had never happened to him—or rather, having Potter "accompany" him in his embarrassment made Malfoy feel a little better.
After walking a few steps together, Malfoy spoke up:
"Lucien, I have something I'd like to ask you."
"Exactly, why can't Cupid deliver messages to you?"
When Malfoy asked this question, Harry and Ron exchanged a glance, both noticing the strange look in each other's eyes.
Hey, has anyone tried sending a message to Lucien?
Lucien: "I programmed Cupid with instructions to help me politely decline people who send me greeting cards or love letters."
"Instructions?" Harry repeated, puzzled.
Lucien nodded. "These Cupid are Alchemy Puppet I created; I can give them specific instructions."
"Alchemy Puppet?!"
Several people exclaimed in surprise at the same time.
Those little creatures that can fly, laugh, and act cute, with skin as soft as a baby's, and who can even judge whether they're disturbing others based on the time of day—are they Alchemy Puppet? Or living beings?
Malfoy subconsciously recalled the alchemical golem his father had collected. That thing could indeed serve tea and water and bow in greeting, but its movements were as stiff as a corpse, and its empty eyes were somewhat unsettling.
To be as lifelike and intelligent as those Cupid...
Ron then thought of the rudimentary alchemical creature he was trying to create—an owl that could only squawk and run around but couldn't fly at all.
He left that thing in his dorm room, and it kept barking all night, causing his roommates other than Harry to chase and beat it up.
Compared to these Cupid who can fly, recite poems, sing, and play instruments...?
Ron swallowed hard. He decided to learn more and make more changes.
Lucien looked at Malfoy and asked suspiciously, "Why do you ask that?"
Malfoy's eyes flickered.
"Yes, a junior from Slytherin asked me to inquire for her." He paused, then asked, "Then why did you reject those love letters and cards?"
Lucien didn't answer immediately. Instead, he took a beautifully wrapped box of chocolates from his pocket, opened it, took one out, and handed it to Harry.
"Have a look."
Harry was flattered and instinctively took it, preparing to put it in his mouth--
Lucien's forehead creased with annoyance, and he quickly interrupted Harry's actions.
Before eating, check if anything has been added to it.
Harry's hand froze in mid-air.
He looked down at the chocolate in his hand and examined it carefully.
The chocolate shell looks fine; in fact, it's quite exquisite, with intricate patterns carved on the surface, showing that it was made with care.
Seeing that Lucien still had a whole box, Harry figured it wouldn't hurt to break off the one he was holding.
He gently broke it open—
"Click."
The chocolate shell cracked open, and a dreamy blue-pink liquid flowed out.
At the same time, tiny bubbles rose from the liquid, spiraling and dissipating in the air like tiny spirals.
"Wow..." Ron leaned closer and sniffed. "How strange, it's clearly chocolate, but why does it smell like a baked pie?"
Malfoy, who had been standing there with an air of superiority, couldn't help but sneer upon hearing this.
"Baked pies?" He raised his chin slightly. "How ignorant. This smells like dragon's blood wine."
Malfoy paused, seemingly enjoying the thrill of displaying high-end style:
"Leaving aside the scarcity of the raw materials, just to taste the best flavor of dragon's blood wine, it must first be aged in a cellar for at least fifty years. Even just a small glass—"
He had intended to say, "A small glass of aged dragon's blood would be enough to buy the entire Weasley's the Burrow," but remembering that Lucien was still nearby, he swallowed the rest of his sarcastic remark.
Ron was about to retort when he suddenly thought of something and chuckled.
"Cough cough,"
Ron cleared his throat and began in a melodious, reciting tone:
"Your grey eyes are deeper than the finest wine in the cellar, your cold smile more noble than any jewel. If I could, I would become the Slytherin badge on your chest, forever etched in your heart..."
Malfoy's face instantly turned from pale to as red as Ron's hair.
"Weasley!"
Is this something that can't be let go of?!
Harry ignored their bickering.
He stared blankly at the broken chocolate in his hand, inhaling its faint aroma.
It's not a baked pie, nor is it dragon's blood wine.
It's green grass.
The scent of fresh grass when you fly close to the ground on a broomstick during a Quidditch Match, your nose brushing against the tips of the grass.
There's still a sliver...
The smell of burning?
Like the lingering burnt residue in the air after lightning has streaked across the sky.
Harry frowned. Why did they all smell different scents?
He looked up at Lucien and found that the other man was looking at him with the same kind of questioning and testing gaze he usually gave him.
Harry's heart skipped a beat. He looked down at the chocolate in his hand—blue-pink liquid, bubbles spiraling upwards, each person smelling a different aroma...
These descriptions... I feel like I've seen them in some book before.
It wasn't in the Potions Class; the second-year Potions Class hadn't covered that yet, but it appeared in some of the extracurricular books recommended by Lucien...
"It's Amortentia!" Harry suddenly shouted, "It's loaded with Amortentia!"
Ron and Malfoy stopped at the same time and turned to look at him.
Harry became more and more certain as he spoke, "It's still a high-quality Amortentia —so everyone should smell it differently!"
Lucien nodded.
"Yes, Amortentia. This quality of Amortentia can also be called a love potion. It's usually taught in potions elective courses around sixth or seventh grade. This box of chocolates was given to me this morning by someone using an owl. I think there are a few more boxes of similar 'gifts'."
Amortentia, arguably the most powerful Love Potion.
But it cannot truly create love; the user will only experience a strong sense of infatuation, just like other so-called Love Potion.
Amortentia are also a type of potion that can directly affect Muggle.
Voldemort's mother used this potion to make Voldemort's father, Old Tom —a Muggle— "fall in love" with her, a wizard.
Alas, how can the "love" brought by the potion be true love? Once the false infatuation disappears, only real resentment and distortion remain.
Harry and the others remained silent.
It seems... being popular isn't always a good thing.
If Lucien hadn't blocked Cupid's ability to deliver messages to him, he might have spent the whole day listening to Cupid reciting and singing—and this laced chocolate...
Ron thought about the scene and couldn't help but shudder. He looked at Lucien and tentatively asked:
"So, you don't have any plans for Valentine's Day today...?"
Lucien: "Yes."
"Remember to go outside the castle in the evening; there's still a special program there."
