The Touch of a Soul
"Bang!"
Lucien tapped his wand lightly, and the heavy door swung open.
The Patronus walked alongside him into the iron house.
They should have been familiar with Lucien's arrival, but when the door opened, the large green snake, which had been coiled up in the corner, suddenly raised its head.
Those vertical pupils still gleamed with a cold light, his body was tense, and his scales were slightly open—he remained in a state of alertness.
Even though Lucien had come countless times, and even though he had never shown any intention to attack, the other party always kept his distance, staring at him with those emotionless eyes.
Lucien took a few steps forward and then stopped, while the humanoid Patronus beside him continued walking towards the corner.
As the silvery-white, smooth-faced "monster" approached, Nagini naturally went into a state of high alert.
Its body coiled even tighter, its head tucked into the center, its neck tilted slightly back, and its sharp fangs were faintly visible in its slightly open mouth.
This is the classic posture of a snake before launching an attack—ready to spring out and tear apart anything that comes near.
The Patronus continued to approach at its unhurried pace.
Approaching the large snake, he extended his right hand.
The silvery-white palm drew closer and closer.
Nagini's coiled body sprang up instantly, so fast that it left only a green afterimage in the air.
The gaping maw lunged straight at the hand, its sharp fangs gleaming coldly in the air.
However, the moment they made contact, Nagini passed right through the Patronus's palm.
The fangs encountered no resistance whatsoever, as if they had bitten into thin air.
Immediately afterward, the snake continued its rapid movement, passing through the arm and then the chest.
Nagini encountered no hindrance whatsoever, as if passing through a cloud of smoke.
"Bang--"
Nagini landed back on the ground behind the Patronus, its scales scraping against the steel plates with a slightly harsh sound.
Then, it stopped moving.
It did not immediately adjust its posture to prepare for another attack, nor did it let out an angry hiss, nor did it even raise its head.
It was as if it had been Petrificus Totalus; the entire snake lay stiffly on the ground, completely motionless.
Those once cold, serpentine eyes now held a human-like bewilderment.
At the instant the giant serpent passed through the Patronus, Lucien simultaneously gained a strange "tactile sensation."
Cold. Flowing.
It felt as if a cold stream was flowing through his fingertips.
The feeling was peculiar; it wasn't entirely a physical sensation of touch, but more like a kind of spiritual resonance.
Is it the touch of the soul?
Based on the various special characteristics already demonstrated by the Patronus Charm, Lucien guessed that his Patronus might indeed be able to directly touch the soul.
It's not just about recalling happy memories, but about truly interacting with the soul itself.
This contact is not one-way; those touched by the Patronus will be affected, and the caster, as the one who cast the spell, can also receive feedback simultaneously.
It was as if Patronus had extended an invisible thread, directly transmitting the information it touched to him.
In this way, the ability to control the soul becomes even stronger.
The healing of the curse in Nagini's physical body and circuits is proceeding step by step.
However, when it came to matters of the soul, even with a general direction, the details still troubled him.
The unique nature of his Patronus Charm, which is directly related to the soul, gave Lucien more hope.
The chances of curing Nagini's curse have also increased.
Nagini's bloodline curse is one of the most troublesome. Successfully curing it will make it easier to deal with other bloodline curses.
The loan mission from the Apples of Youth requires curing three bloodline curses—besides Nagini in front of us, there are two more left.
Lucien calmed his turbulent emotions and focused his gaze on Nagini was lying motionless on the ground.
When he unleashes the full Patronus, he also gains the ability to see directly into the soul, with greater clarity and depth.
At this moment, in his vision, Nagini was no longer a large green snake, but a gray-black mist, layered upon layered, as if tightly wrapped by something.
But compared to before, after the Patronus made contact with her, the depths of the mist seemed to brighten a little more.
Like the first rays of dawn about to rise on the distant horizon, faint yet resolute.
The curse that had been entangled in the soul also paused briefly.
The threads that were constantly eroding and spreading seemed to be paused by something after the silvery-white light swept over them, temporarily ceasing their activity.
Although it only lasted for a moment, it did stop.
Lucien turned his head, the faceless Patronus whispered:
"I'm counting on you."
