Background / History

Tang San grew up in Holy Soul Village under the care of his father, Tang Hao. Although Tang Hao was often drunk, lazy, and absent, Tang San remained filial because his father had still provided his only home and support. When Old Jack offered him a place at Nuoding Primary Academy, Tang San struggled between attending the academy and remaining loyal to his father. 1

He awakened the Blue Silver Grass martial soul alongside Ye Yun and was found to possess innate full soul power. Tang San later entrusted Ye Yun with the secret that he possessed twin martial souls. Their friendship deepened during their journey to Nuoding, where Tang San called Ye Yun his “real brother.” 1 2

At Nuoding Primary Academy, Tang San initially considered accepting Yu Xiaogang as a teacher, but Ye Yun's warnings made him more cautious. He defended himself from Wang Sheng's surprise attack and became dorm head before Xiao Wu challenged the position. 3 Yu Xiaogang later claimed to have been arranged as Tang San's teacher by Tang Hao; after Ye Yun exposed flaws in his teachings, Tang San chose to obtain his first soul ring independently. 6

Tang San acquired a 400-year Evergreen Vine soul ring, which granted him Blue Silver Binding. Although he nominally acknowledged Yu Xiaogang as his teacher, the relationship deteriorated as Tang San recognized the limits of Yu Xiaogang's knowledge and methods. 13 47

After moving with Ye Yun and Xiao Wu to the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect, Tang San developed an addiction to the game consoles Ye Yun provided, at times neglecting cultivation and classes. 15 22 He openly revealed his Clear Sky Hammer to Ning Fengzhi when reporting Yu Xiaogang's arrival at the sect. 22

Much later, Tang San answered a summons from Tang Hao in Tian Dou City. Their reunion became a violent confrontation after Tang San accused Tang Hao of deceiving his mother into sacrificing herself. Tang San used advanced armor, weapons, healing potions, and a blue core explosion against his father; the blast severely injured Tang Hao, though Tang San's own fate after the detonation is not stated. 76 77 78
