Nature and Awakening

A Martial Soul is awakened by a Soul Master and determines their inherent attributes, cultivation potential, and compatible Soul Rings. Awakening may also reveal Innate Soul Power; Qian Renheng’s twin Martial Souls manifested with Innate Soul Power at Rank 20, while Dugu Yan and Ye Lingling awakened at Levels 7 and 9 respectively. 1 190

Martial Souls may be inherited through a family line, such as the Qian Clan’s Six-Winged Angel, Dugu family’s Jade Phosphor Snake, and Undying Family’s Nine Heart Begonia. 1 190

Mutation

A Martial Soul can mutate from its inherited form. Such mutations may be benign or malignant; a benign mutation can retain, or even exceed, the original Martial Soul’s quality. 1

Qian Renheng’s inherited angel lineage mutated into the Death Angel and Life Angel. Despite differing from the Six-Winged Angel, both remained god-level Martial Souls. 1

Soul Rings and Soul Skills

Soul Masters obtain Soul Skills by hunting Soul Beasts and absorbing their Soul Rings. This is far easier than developing a Self-Created Soul Skill, because a Soul Ring generally grants a completed ability immediately. 68

Scalable Soul Skills

The first Soul Skills obtained by Qian Renheng and Qian Renxue from the Six-Winged Black Crow and Dawn Golden Crow are unusual Soul Power-manipulation abilities with no fixed form or upper power limit. Their strength rises with total Soul Power and precision of control. 20 21

• Qian Renheng’s Law of Finality can shape Soul Power into weapons, lines, explosive spheres, clawed gloves, and other constructs. 20
• Its present limitation is his available Soul Power and control; repeated use initially exhausted him quickly. 20
• Unlike rigid Soul Skills, it is intended to remain useful even as its user reaches higher realms. 20

Twin Martial Souls

Ordinary Twin Martial Soul possessors can only use one Martial Soul at a time and must switch between them. Adding Soul Rings to a second Martial Soul is dangerous because incompatible origins can collide inside the body and cause fatal backlash. 35 180

The potential reward is immense: after a user’s body has been sufficiently strengthened, the second Martial Soul can receive its own Soul Rings and their energy feedback can cause major Soul Power growth. 46

Qian Renheng’s Death Angel and Life Angel are an exceptional case because both are detached. They can remain active simultaneously rather than functioning as mutually exclusive Martial Souls. 35

Detached Martial Souls

Ming Ji and Chun Xing are extensions of Qian Renheng’s consciousness and life, but possess independent forms and autonomous consciousness comparable to living people. 1

Independent Combat

Detached Martial Souls can fight alongside their master and use Soul Skills independently if granted permission and sufficient Soul Power. 35

• Qian Renheng can function as three coordinated combat units: himself, Ming Ji, and Chun Xing. 35
• Their attacks still consume Soul Power from Qian Renheng’s own Soul Power pool. 35

Qian Renheng’s hundred-thousand-year Death Angel Avatar more than doubled his attributes, increased the power of all Soul Skills, and added persistent special damage to his ordinary attacks. 225

Domains are rare abilities associated with top-tier Martial Souls. Qian Renheng awakened the Death Domain after absorbing his seventh Soul Ring, while Qian Renxue awakened the Angel Domain after obtaining her own seventh ring. 218 233

Martial Soul Fusion Skills

Martial Soul Fusion Skills require rare resonance between their participants. Spirit Hall’s many high-level Soul Masters had only one known established fusion pair—Yue Guan and Gui Mei—before Qian Renheng and Qian Renxue discovered their own resonance. 165
