Roar! A massive magical beast appeared in front of the middle-aged summoner. It stood a full seven meters tall, its entire body covered in hard, fiery-red scales. Two enormous tusks, each as large as an elephant's, hooked down from its upper lip. Each of its four limbs was as thick as a Xenomorph's body, and its tail was astonishingly long.
"Saber-toothed Dragon."
"My God!"
"A level-six magical beast, the Saber-toothed Dragon."
The watching crowd cried out in alarm and immediately scrambled backward, explaining the beast's identity to Li Junshan.
The level-six magical beast Saber-toothed Dragon was an earth-element beast. Although its name contained the word "dragon," it had nothing to do with dragons. It possessed tremendous strength and earth-element magic comparable to that of a high-level mage, making it extremely formidable.
Perhaps sensing the murderous aura on the Xenomorphs, the Saber-toothed Dragon lowered its head. Its two eyes, each as large as a human head, glowed red, and it opened its mouth in a roar.
Roar! Inside the Saber-toothed Dragon's open mouth were two rows of sharp, sawlike teeth, crisscrossed and smeared with blood and scraps of flesh.
"Let me tell you what..." Because of the crowd's astonishment, the summoner had grown rather smug. He reached up to stroke the professional badge on his chest that symbolized his status as a Great Summoner, just about to show off with a few words, when his neck suddenly stretched out and his eyes bulged. Like a Flame Chicken being strangled, his voice abruptly cut off.
One, two, three... A total of four Xenomorphs appeared in front of Li Junshan. Together with the two Xenomorphs that had dropped York, they charged at the Saber-toothed Dragon as one.
The three Xenomorphs facing the Saber-toothed Dragon head-on spat out a light bullet, a fireball, and an ice spike respectively, but they had little effect when they struck its hard scales. Two Xenomorphs leaped into the air and landed on the Saber-toothed Dragon's enormous head, their tailbones stabbing straight toward soft spots like its eyes and nose. The remaining two darted under its belly, piercing one bloody hole after another into the soft flesh there.
"Awooo..." The Saber-toothed Dragon, stunned by the beating, opened its mouth and let out a miserable cry, squeezing its eyes shut as the Xenomorphs' tailbones struck sparks against its eyelids.
Boom... Dozens of thick earth spikes suddenly rose from the ground. The Xenomorph carrying Li Junshan was caught off guard, its feet pierced through. It sprang up sharply and landed lightly to one side, scattering a trail of green blood.
The two Xenomorphs beneath the Saber-toothed Dragon's belly were not so lucky. Cramped and unable to move freely under it, they were instantly impaled through the chest by the earth spikes that split up from the ground, and Li Junshan immediately summoned them back.
Magical beasts above level six could cast magic rapidly. The truly powerful ones could even cast five or six spells in succession, though naturally their power varied.
As it violently shook its body, trying to fling the two Xenomorphs jumping around on its head to the ground, the Saber-toothed Dragon cast another earth-element spell.
Earth-Splitting Spell. From the ground already pierced through by the earth spikes, dozens of huge rocks flew up and whistled toward Li Junshan. Clearly, the Great Summoner had pointed out the attack direction for his Saber-toothed Dragon.
Yet the instant the Saber-toothed Dragon cast its spell, Li Junshan had already summoned the injured Xenomorph he was riding back into his mental space and replaced it with another. Like a gust of wind, this speed-enhanced Xenomorph carried Li Junshan, darting swiftly among the dozens of huge stones, and in an instant they arrived in front of the Great Summoner.
Sensing its master's fear, the Saber-toothed Dragon ten meters away raised its hooves and charged over, opening its huge mouth at the same time to let out an enraged roar. That roar was also the Saber-toothed Dragon's last.
The two Xenomorphs on its back leaped in front of it, their long tailbones stabbing fiercely into its mouth. Before the Saber-toothed Dragon could cry out in pain and close its jaws, they pulled their tails back out, bringing a spray of blood with them.
At the same time, an ice spike, a fireball, and a light bullet shot rapidly into the Saber-toothed Dragon's mouth before it had time to close.
Boom... The Saber-toothed Dragon's massive body crashed to the ground. A large amount of foul-smelling black liquid poured from its huge mouth, and there was even a dazzling ball of flame burning inside. Its eyes closed as it died.
"Hiss..." The onlookers, including Earl Ross's guards, all sucked in a cold breath at once, almost drawing the air into a whirlpool.
Under the stunned gazes of the crowd, two Xenomorphs rushed over and used their forelegs to split open the Saber-toothed Dragon's head in a few strikes, digging out an earth-yellow magic crystal. The remaining two Xenomorphs were not idle either. Using their sharp tailbones, they cut a long gash from the Saber-toothed Dragon's abdomen, then reached in with their forelegs and neatly stripped off its entire hide, leaving behind a huge, disgusting mass of bloody flesh.
"Respected Lord Summoner." The Xenomorph lowered its body and stretched its head forward. Li Junshan leaned from its back toward the Great Summoner, who stood there dumb as a wooden chicken, and said, "Does this count as being a qualified summoner?"
The scene was deathly silent. Only the summoner's teeth could be heard chattering together with a "clack-clack" sound. Unable to catch his breath, the Great Summoner could no longer endure the shock before his eyes and collapsed to the ground with a thud, fainting.
Li Junshan took the Saber-toothed Dragon's magic crystal the Xenomorph brought over, toyed with it casually for a moment, then tossed it to Fate, who stood beside him with an expectant look. Then he turned to Earl Ross.
Earl Ross was dumbfounded. He had never imagined that Nicholas, who had known nothing half a year ago, could now summon so many ferocious magical beasts in one breath. Including the two he had recalled, there had been nine in total from start to finish!
Nine summoned beasts. Nine magical beasts with lightning speed, capable of defeating a level-six magical beast, identical in appearance yet able to cast different kinds of magic!
Earl Ross found it somewhat hard to believe. Just then, he heard his personal guard Bertrand speaking in a low voice behind him.
"My lord, these magical beasts are at least around level five. If we fall out with him now, although I am confident I can protect your safety, I may not be able to take him down."
In fact, even without Bertrand saying it, Earl Ross understood. Bertrand was only at the rank of Battle Master, and there had already been a vivid example right in front of him.
Earl Ross felt a wave of regret. If he had been able to stop Ximo from releasing the Saber-toothed Dragon just now, then things would not have...
Regret was useless. The shrewd and slippery Earl Ross recovered in an instant. He cleared his throat, clapped his hands, and praised loudly, "Nicholas, your parents will be proud of you. As your elder, I am equally proud of you."
"Thank you, Mr. Ross." Li Junshan smiled faintly and took the opportunity to climb down gracefully. "Sometimes perhaps darkness may cover our eyes, but one day, the sun will still illuminate our hearts."
Ross gave a few dry laughs. He glanced at the half-dead York, then looked up at Li Junshan and said, "I believe there must have been some hidden circumstances behind your kidnapping. If you trust me, I will help you investigate it very soon. As for your father's title, since you have already returned, I will naturally have York hand it over. What do you think?"
Li Junshan frowned and sighed. "Mr. Ross, don't you think we should receive some compensation? Some reasonable compensation we ought to have."
Little bastard, are you never done? Ross cursed inwardly, but he smiled and said, "Nicholas, your shrewdness truly surprises me. Heh, but suitable compensation is only proper. Rest assured, once York wakes up, he will provide compensation."
"Many thanks, Lord Earl." Seeing that Li Junshan still wanted to speak, Claur hurried over and bowed as he spoke.
"Claur." Ross quickly stepped forward and helped him up, saying earnestly, "This matter was mishandled by me and caused you to suffer. I heard that something happened to Linda's eyes. After I return, I will send a priest over to take a look."
"Thank you, Lord Earl." Claur's eyes reddened slightly. Ross patted him on the shoulder and exchanged a few polite words before having his men bring York along and leaving in his carriage.
"Nicholas." Claur watched Earl Ross's convoy disappear around the street corner before turning around. He looked at Li Junshan with a complicated gaze and said, "Just how many things are you still hiding from me?"
Li Junshan drew his gaze back from Feixi's indignant face and watched her back disappear. Then he turned his head and smiled. "Believe me, Father, for the sake of your heart, I think it's better if you don't know."
"Let's go home!" Li Junshan jumped down from the Xenomorph. With a thought, he withdrew all the Xenomorphs back into his mental space, then stored the Saber-toothed Dragon hide into his spatial ring, drawing another wave of astonished cries from the watching crowd.
"Young Master, where's that magical beast of yours? Why didn't you ride it back?"
"Young Master, I heard you scared that bastard York so badly he wet his pants. Is it true?"
"Wow, Young Master, you were so impressive! A lot of people ran back just now saying you showed off your might in front of our viscount's estate. You were amazing!"
It was already dark. Li Junshan had only just stepped back into the small courtyard with Claur when he was immediately surrounded by a group of servants, all of them excited and thrilled as they bombarded him with questions.
Li Junshan smiled and nodded to them, while Fate called loudly from behind, "Come over here if you want to know! I watched the whole thing from start to finish."
Everyone instantly swarmed over to him.
"Mr. Fate, I heard you cast a lot of spells and beat York's guards into a complete mess. Is that true?"
"Yeah, I heard there were spells from lots of different elements, too."
"I think I heard someone say his magic wasn't that strong!"
Fate clearly enjoyed the feeling of being surrounded. He tipped his head up smugly and began recounting the whole thing with vivid detail.
This guy should open some kind of Fate Society and do stand-up. He might have more of a future than as a magician, Li Junshan thought, walking toward the house with Claur.
"Nicholas." Linda came out with Tina supporting her. Li Junshan hurried forward and took her other side to help her.
"What happened? Were you hurt?" Linda anxiously reached out and felt him all over, her face full of panic.
Warmth rose in Li Junshan's heart. He held her hand and placed it against his face, smiling. "I'm fine. I'm different from before now. They can't hurt me."
"As long as you're all right." A smile bloomed on Linda's face, but then she immediately turned stern again and said, "You never used to be this rash. Why did you go causing trouble the moment you got home? When I heard Tina talk about it just now, I was nearly scared to death."
"Mother." Li Junshan smiled faintly and said, "I know what I'm doing."
"You know what you're doing?" Claur looked at him with a strange expression and said, "Never mind that you left York in such a miserable state and killed his personal Battle Master guard. You actually killed the summoned beast of Ximo, the great summoner under Earl Ross, and even ran your mouth in front of Earl Ross demanding compensation."
"Young Master was incredible." Tina's eyes were practically sparkling as she cut in excitedly. "He beat him well! You don't know what expression that fat pig had when he forced Master and Madam out of the viscount's estate."
"Tina." Claur frowned and was just about to scold her when Linda spoke. She said, "Tina is right, Claur. York stopped treating you like a younger brother long ago, so why should you care what other people say about him? Besides, what has he ever done that was worthy of being your cousin?"
Claur was immediately left speechless. Linda held Li Junshan's hand, raised her brows, and continued, "Earl Ross didn't dare fall out with him. That means Nicholas has strength that makes him wary. I already heard about it just now—a Battle Master and a great summoner were both defeated by Nicholas. Earl Ross can't cover the whole sky with one hand either. If I'm not mistaken, what happened today will spread to the imperial capital within a few days."
