Background

Fate was a certified young mage retained by Baron Hank of Floro City. He chose service under a lower noble because he expected better status and security than he would receive under a count or marquis. After three years without advancing beyond elementary magic, he was expelled when Baron Hank discovered Fate with the baron’s mistress. 1

Destitute and hungry, Fate arrived in the lawless Windfire Town wearing a robe torn by branches and thorns. He was initially too intimidated to enter the town, having witnessed its violence and the strength of its inhabitants. Xiaoshan invited him to eat at Anna’s tavern, beginning their association. 1

Anna initially dismissed Fate as a useless beginner mage, but Xiaoshan kept him nearby because Fate could explain matters concerning magic, summoning, and magical beasts. Fate ultimately remained at the tavern, using water magic for chores such as washing meat and vegetables. 3 4

Fate revealed that his father and grandfather had both been Summoners. Because the profession had declined, they directed him toward magic instead; nevertheless, his family background gave him valuable knowledge of Spirit Spaces, Innate Summoned Beasts, summoning contracts, and magical beasts. 4 9

Personality

Fate is anxious and status-conscious, often introducing himself as a “noble mage” despite his poor circumstances and weak early magic. He is easily frightened by stronger people, including Anna and Nicholas’s Xenomorphs, and can be cowardly when directly threatened. 1 2 31

He is also curious, greedy for magical resources, and intensely devoted to advancement. A level-six water Beast Core moved him to swear lifelong service to Nicholas, while Anna’s late husband’s magic notes and Nicholas’s Beast Cores drove him to cultivate diligently. 7 10 11

Despite his fearfulness, Fate is loyal to Nicholas and repeatedly offers advice, identifies dangers, maintains Nicholas’s cover story, and worries over his safety. He takes visible pride in Nicholas’s achievements and in his own role during their conflicts. 9 16 20 25

Fate is a thin mage who initially wears a black robe left ragged by his journey to Windfire Town. 1

Windfire Town

Fate arrives unemployed and frightened, receives food from Xiaoshan, and settles into Anna’s tavern after recognizing that he cannot survive alone in Windfire Town. He becomes Xiaoshan’s guide to local magic and summoning concepts. 1 3 4

Xenomorph Hunting and Oath

Fate accompanies Nicholas into the Falling Moon Mountains, witnesses the creation and combat power of the Xenomorphs, and supplies practical knowledge about magic crystals and magical beasts. After Nicholas defeats the Great Water Rhino Beasts, Fate swears to serve him for life. 8 9 10

Mixed-Element Cultivation

Using Nicholas’s stockpile of Beast Cores, Fate creates a mixed-attribute Spirit Gathering Array. The experiment gives him access to numerous elements but leaves him unable to develop any one of them beyond low-level magic at first. 11

Floro City and George Academy

Fate travels with Nicholas to Floro City, helps sustain their cover story, and fights York’s guards with multi-element magic. He later enrolls at George Academy alongside Nicholas, where noble students target him for humiliation because of his commoner status and relative weakness. 20 23 30 31
