onto Dacheng's body.
The greatest difference between Beast Tribe acceleration magic and human acceleration magic was that the Beast Tribe's magic had a weaker acceleration effect, but the one it was cast on would
simultaneously gain a boost to strength and movement speed. For Niu Dacheng, who excelled at close combat, it was one of the most useful spells.
"Ha! Dragon-Breaking Strike!" Niu Dacheng leapt with all his might, raising his iron hammer high and smashing it toward Alex at blinding speed.
Alex shifted left and right, trying to avoid the attack, only to discover that Niu Dacheng had already sealed off every space he could dodge into. He hurriedly gripped the sword hilt with his left hand, and golden light poured into the blade.
"Sword of Glory." Battle energy wrapped around the longsword in Alex's hand, forming a halo outside the blade. The light-sword thrust straight out, once again
colliding with Niu Dacheng's iron hammer.
"Pfft." Niu Dacheng had the advantage of the enhancement magic and gravitational acceleration. Alex was sent flying by the iron hammer, crashing toward the great
tree in the main hall of the city lord's manor.
The great tree was snapped by Alex's impact, and half of the entire city lord's manor collapsed in an instant. But Alex was not injured. He only rolled across the ground, then swung the light-sword toward the wall at the front of the hall.
With a "chah," the light-sword stabbed into the wall, but that was all. The entire wall still did not budge in the slightest.
"So it really is here." Alex was wild with joy. The secret of the Dead City lay behind this wall.
"Roar." Ishir suddenly let out an enraged roar, threw away the staff in her hand, and lunged at Alex as if she did not care whether she lived or died. Niu Dacheng also flung aside his iron
hammer and pounced over.
The golden light in Alex's left hand poured madly into the longsword as if it cost him nothing, and the crack in the wall grew larger and larger.
"Haha, success." The Sword of Glory finally broke the restriction on the wall, and streams of black light flowed out from the gaps.
The tiger-man and the ox-man had already seized Alex from the left and right. With one shout, they were about to tear Alex to pieces.
"Heh heh, Alex, well done." The black light kept drilling into Alex's body. Alex's face immediately turned black, and the golden light was forced out of his body by the black light. Powerful battle energy blasted Niu Dacheng and Ishir away.
"Ugh, it hurts, let me go." Alex's body floated in the air, struggling nonstop. Before long, he crashed heavily to the ground, his face and body covered in blood.
"Damn it, it's the Soul-Planting Technique. There's something inside him," Ishir cried.
Alex's body spewed out a burst of black air, which condensed in the air into a face. It was the Lion Tribe man Mamol.
"You... bastard, you're an Orc. Do you know what you're doing?" Ishir roared.
"Wahahaha, what abundant divine power! I've finally obtained it—the Divine Soul of Ten Thousand Beasts!" Mamol laughed smugly.
Just as Mamol was swelling with pride, a clamor came from outside. It turned out that Peiganbo had been continuously ambushing the remnants of the Radiant Knights in the city, and with the Axon Town garrison attacking from the north gate, the rebelling Radiant Knights were retreating step by step, slowly being forced toward the west gate.
Hal and Aslan, who had been lying in ambush beside the west gate wall, heard the west gate gradually grow noisy. It turned out the remaining broken troops of the Radiant Knights
had gathered here one after another, preparing to flee through the west gate.
"Heh, Hal, it's your turn. Catch them all in one net," Aslan said with a wicked grin.
The city gate was quickly opened, and the rebels scrambled over one another to flee outside. The glory of the Radiant Knights had already been thrown to the back of their minds.
Seeing that several people had already run out, Hal used his new ultimate move, Dynamic Fire Net, without the slightest hesitation. A chain of explosions rang out without end.
Of the people running at the front, some were wounded by the blasts, while others were stunned unconscious by the booming explosions. The support squad also used these rebels, who had no heart left for battle, to practice the various spells they had learned at school. For a time, the sky outside the west gate was lit up in riotous colors.
"Ah, there are enemies here too! Retreat, hurry, retreat back through the city gate!" someone among the rebels shouted.
"How are we supposed to retreat? There's a huge bug behind us! I'd rather die than go back," someone objected.
"Surrender, we surrender! Stop fighting!" The rebels slowly backed away. As soon as someone mentioned surrender, several others immediately followed, hiding by the city wall and shouting surrender at the top of their lungs.
"Drop your weapons and raise your hands high," support squad leader Pieru shouted grandly.
Aslan and Hal smiled at each other, then walked toward their classmates.
Mamol's ferocious face drifted excitedly through the hall. Niu Dacheng and Ishir glared hatefully at Mamol's soul avatar, yet felt there was nothing they could do.
The crack in the wall slowly closed, blocking the black light from continuing to spill outward.
"Ishir, Tiger Soul Roar." A childish voice came from underground.
The Tiger Tribe mage suddenly understood. How had she forgotten the method her teacher had taught her for dealing with soul bodies? She immediately focused her mental power, opened
her mouth, and released a soundless soul roar.
Mamol was suddenly attacked by the mental wave. His black face, which had originally condensed together, wavered, and its color grew a little fainter.
"Watch my hammer." Niu Dacheng retrieved his weapon and swung it fiercely at Mamol, but how could it possibly injure a soul fragment?
"Dacheng, step back," the childlike voice ordered.
The minotaur had no choice but to take two steps back. His method of attack was completely helpless against this kind of soul-form enemy.
Seeing Niu Dacheng retreat, Ishir immediately followed up with a spell: "Forest Wind."
Wisps of breeze carrying the aura of nature echoed through the hall. To ordinary creatures, Forest Wind would only feel cool and comfortable, causing no harm at all. But to Mamol, who had absorbed the black light, the caress of that natural aura made his soul feel restless and uneasy.
