Ling Yiyi is a Shrek Academy student known throughout the Outer Court as an unusually capable support-type Soul Master. Her Healing Angel martial soul grants her an exceptional affinity for life energy; rather than remaining purely supportive, she can use those abilities to anesthetize and directly overpower opponents. Rumors held that Shrek’s Inner Court had already taken notice of her. 38

By her fourth year, she had already undergone a genuine life-and-death examination, contributing to Ying Luohong’s confidence in her ability to assess a dangerous opponent. 38

Dean Ying Luohong selected Ling Yiyi to test the unidentified arena fighter Zoffy—Lin Yuan’s masked identity—after Zoffy’s unusually high Soul Fighting Arena performance rating drew Shrek’s attention. Ying chose a life-energy-rich arena and devised a close-combat strategy intended to exploit Ling Yiyi’s endurance and life-energy replenishment. 38 39

Zoffy defeats her by using Shinra Tensei thirty times in succession, disrupting her recovery rhythm and controlling the battlefield’s life energy. He ultimately funnels the arena’s virtual life energy into her until she explodes and is eliminated from the simulation. 39 40

During the battle, Zoffy also explains that Battle Armor does not disperse impacts instantaneously. His uninterrupted attacks exploit that brief delay, leaving her bruised and swollen despite her armor’s protection. 40

Seven Luminaries Rematch

Ling Yiyi later confronts Zoffy alongside six Soul Emperor teammates. Their Seven Luminaries Heaven-Sealing Formation is intended to neutralize his elemental advantage, but Zoffy counters it with his second martial soul, Myriad Void Breaker, and eliminates the entire team with the Eighth Radiance: White Wall. 87 88 89

Following the defeat, Ling Yiyi refuses any future match involving Zoffy, citing the extreme psychological pressure of fighting him. After Shrek punishes Ling Yiyi and her companions with dangerous missions and debts, their group seeks Zoffy’s assistance. Lin Yuan recognizes their predicament and lends six million Douluo Coins—one million to each of the Six Luminaries—on the condition that they first clear their outstanding debts. 95 96

She monitors Lin Yuan’s preliminary-selection performance, reviews the footage after he ends the assessment by triggering a volcanic eruption, guides him through the prize roulette, and informs him that he must serve as the final enemy for the remaining examinees. 126 127 129 130

During this period, she remains openly devoted to Zoffy despite reports of his death, arguing with fellow Inner Court students who dismiss him as dead and recalling him fondly when discussing Lin Yuan’s performance. 126 130

After Lin Yuan draws the roulette’s best available rewards, she keeps him with her until the trial reaches the point at which he is to enter as its final enemy. While they wait, she openly admits that she liked Zoffy, unaware that she is speaking to him. 130

Watching his subsequent performance, she is embarrassed by her earlier assessment of how long he might survive. His three Soul Rings and large-scale attack capabilities make her recognize that simply increasing the number of opponents may not meaningfully threaten him. 131

Physical Examinations and Yi Zichen’s Summons

At the Shrek Hotel, Ling Yiyi asks the candidates to rest, directs them to the complimentary restaurant, and announces that she will collect them at eight the following morning for their physical examinations. 145

She then leads them to the Physical Testing Center, divides the candidates into three rotating groups, and takes Lin Yuan, Lan Xuanyu, Qian Lei, Liu Feng, and others to their first test: a ten-milliliter blood draw. She greets the purple-haired medical examiner affectionately and introduces Lin Yuan as the examiner’s favorite Child of Stars. 146

Before Lin Yuan finishes the examination, Ling Yiyi calls him outside after receiving notice that a teacher wishes to see him. The summons originates from Yi Zichen, who has ordered that Lin Yuan be brought to Sea God Lake without completing the tests. 147

Her account that Lin Yuan was summoned away by an Inner Court teacher and had not returned is later relayed to Wang Tianyu. Combined with reports of unstable space at Yi Zichen’s residence, this information prompts Wang Tianyu and Elder Tree to rush there immediately. 152

Zoffy’s Identity Reveal

Ling Yiyi is present among the Shrek students when Lin Yuan publicly reveals that he is Zoffy. The revelation confirms that the person she admired, mourned, and confessed affection for was Lin Yuan, leaving her deeply embarrassed. 153
