Shrek is based around Shrek City on Douluo Planet. Its grounds surround an azure lake and extensive vegetation, while a towering tree dominates the surrounding landscape; the academy also possesses the Eternal Sky Tree and Sea God Lake. 64 124

Its stated entry foundation requires applicants to reach Rank 20 by age twelve, followed by evaluation of spiritual power, martial soul, effort, and other qualities. Shrek is portrayed as an institution with a thirty-thousand-year foundation and substantial influence across the Federation. 13 124

Shrek previously recovered from a catastrophic crisis, with the “Shrek Spirit” credited as a basis for its rebuilding. Tang Wulin was the leader of its revival and ended the conflict with the Abyssal Plane, helping establish the widespread public goodwill that the academy enjoyed afterward. Yi Zichen contrasted that earlier reputation with the public condemnation Shrek faced in Zoffy's era. 93 107

The concentration of life energy around Shrek City benefits Soul Power, spiritual-power, and blood-essence cultivation. Its accumulated technological resources and access to Divine Craftsmen are also described as advantages that the Federation military struggles to match. 140 143

Organization

Research and institutional partnerships

Shrek and the Tang Sect maintain an exceptionally close institutional relationship, described as having “always been one.” Scientific research is a major area of cooperation, with Ling Zichen and Tang Miao involved in the shared research effort. 256

Ecological warships are a primary research direction for both organizations. Sea God Pavilion discussions addressed the need to continue funding the project as the Federation and military became aware of the research competition. The project also faced a shortage of access to Soul Beast remains from Elf Star, where Lin Yuan's Burial of Beasts had earned the Soul Beasts' friendship. Ling Zichen later reviewed research beside a massive Soul Beast corpse at a secret Tang Sect base in Shrek City. 93 112 157

Lin Yuan was recognized as the Federation-wide selection's overall champion and as having broken its ten-thousand-year selection-time record. Before his formal enrollment, his achievements had already prompted competition among Shrek's teachers over recruiting him. 140

Culture and Resource System

Shrek's stated philosophy emphasizes cultivating “monsters,” with students expected to fight for resources rather than receive them freely. The academy's council hall displays the motto: 158

“Those who dare not cause trouble are mediocrities.” 158

Students use badge-based resources and rewards. Shrek badges can be earned through interconnected missions, while White-Grade Badges can purchase Sea God Lake water. 158 170

The academy's mission system is shared with the Spirit Pagoda, Tang Sect, War God Temple, Federation, and other institutions. Heaven Fighter points earned through these missions may be exchanged for Shrek badges or used to advance military rank. 170

One Heaven Fighter point can be exchanged for one White-level Badge. Missions may be open to multiple participants or exclusive to their current acceptors until completed or failed. When Tang Zhenhua registered Lin Yuan, his account already contained 350,000 points; Lin Yuan requested promotion to level-four Heaven Fighter and conversion of the remaining points into badges. 170

Douluo Coins can also be exchanged for Shrek badges, which can purchase heavenly treasures and even ten-thousand-year Soul Bones. The academy awarded Soul Bones to Lin Yuan, although he did not fuse them into his body because he considered them unsuitable for his abilities. 15 222

Despite its emphasis on competition, Shrek repeatedly prohibited private fighting within the academy. Resource disputes nevertheless produced tense confrontations among students, which Lin Yuan observed upon arriving in Shrek City. 144

Sea God Fate is an academy event associated with romance and public declarations of commitment. A senior student promoted the prospect of entering the Inner Court together with a partner and making vows before the assembled teachers and students there. 143

Controversies

Treatment of ordinary students

A Shrek staff member described past experiences of suppression, isolation, and inadequate teacher intervention, while Hua Linhan's homeroom teacher was accused of organizing rumors and pressure against Zoffy under the justification of “tempering” his character. 56 57

Zoffy publicly condemned what he called the academy's injustice toward ordinary students and teachers' abuse of authority. His speech drew support from students who said they were treated as tools for geniuses rather than people with dignity. 58 60

Ying Luohong stated that the academy had not supported Hua Linhan's teacher's methods and threatened disciplinary action after the incident escalated. 60

The criticism persisted after three Shrek students pressured Liu Baochuan at the Spirit Pagoda's Ascension Platform. Lin Yuan intervened and killed the three students within the simulated environment, treating the episode as further proof that Shrek's reputation did not excuse abuse by its students. 140

During his public trial, Lin Yuan argued that ostracized students could be exploited on dangerous missions while also struggling to afford cultivation resources. He used Sea God Lake water as an example, stating that a single liter cost one White-Grade Badge and that an excluded student might need to drive a shuttle for two hours each day to earn it. 158

Internal unrest

Zoffy's speeches intensified conflict between gifted and less-talented students. Shrek administrators acknowledged that less-talented students had begun organizing against stronger students, with disputes spreading into missions and daily academy life. 85

After Ling Yiyi's group borrowed money from Zoffy to settle debts owed to Shrek, public criticism accused the academy of exploiting ordinary students. 96

Ling Yiyi's reassessment followed her teammates' loss of Inner Court qualifications and a debt of thirty purple badges. Having previously benefited from her position as a gifted healing-type Soul Master, she came to believe that the resources given to geniuses depended on exploiting ordinary students. Her group later agreed to repay Zoffy 8.8 million Douluo Coins for his assistance. 93 95 99

Shrek also introduced a “Practical Combat” course targeting Zoffy and reactivated a virtual spaceship to allow more than three hundred Outer Court students to watch his seven-person challenge. His subsequent victory spread across the Federation and further damaged the academy's prestige. 85 86 90

Delayed intervention during the pirate attack

During the space-pirate crisis involving Zoffy, Shrek delayed its support despite the Federation's Level One war response. Shrek later maintained that its reinforcements had been delayed by an ambush from Sin Planet. 101 107

The academy subsequently announced a posthumous special Sea God Pavilion seat and Red Badge for Zoffy, presenting the award as its highest respect for a Federation hero. 107

The response caused disagreement within Shrek's leadership. Wang Tianyu objected to exploiting a dead Federation hero, while Yi Zichen argued that a living Zoffy's prestige could force Shrek to adopt equality and abandon its long-standing tradition of nurturing only monsters. 105

Yi Zichen publicly acknowledged that Shrek had arrived too late and admitted that attention to external forces had obscured changes within the academy. His announcement temporarily improved the crowd's attitude, but Tang Le expressed distress over how different Shrek had become from the institution he remembered. Lin Yuan answered Yi Zichen's request for a performance with an original song, “My Conflicted Heart,” questioning whether apologies could excuse delayed intervention or console the dead. 107

External intervention and security breaches

Gu Yuena entered Shrek without authorization while seeking justice for Zoffy and overwhelmingly defeated Wang Tianyu, a Divine Rank Shrek teacher. She released him after realizing that he was not the individual she had intended to confront, while warning Shrek not to bully the weak. 64

During a later visit, Gu Yuena obtained the Silver Dragon Spear after feeling its call within Shrek. 124

A recording of that later intervention showed Gu Yuena defeating Yi Zichen, imprisoning Sea God Pavilion Master Ling Zichen, and knocking Tang Miao unconscious. Wang Tianyu participated in recording the incident and asked her not to attack him after she had finished with Yi Zichen. The War God Temple had arranged an interstellar fighter for her journey to Shrek. 124

Lin Yuan and the Reform Crisis

Lin Yuan initially planned to attend Shrek, but later stated that he intended to “thoroughly revolutionize” the academy rather than simply join it. 13 92

During the Tryouts, Lin Yuan's performance drew the attention of the Sea God Pavilion. Yi Zichen sought to recruit him as a student and use his influence to stabilize the Outer Court, a plan Wang Tianyu opposed. Yi Zichen also considered making Lin Yuan a future Shrek Seven Monsters candidate. 133

Shrek's interest in Lin Yuan also included plans to bring him closer to the Life School. Ying Luohong assigned Tang Yue to handle matters involving him and arranged a Blood Trial as his assessment. 142

After Lin Yuan's identity as Zoffy became public, Yi Zichen's attempt to use him for experiments was exposed. Yi Zichen later died by self-destruction after failing to capture him. 152 157

During the confrontation at Sea God Lake, Yi Zichen claimed that Zoffy had possessed Lin Yuan and ordered three Inner Court Soul Douluos to attack him. Lin Yuan shattered Old Zhang's jade wall and pierced his Martial Soul Avatar with the Myriad Void Breaker. Tang Le rushed toward Shrek after learning that its teachers had taken Lin Yuan away. 150

Tang Miao subsequently reported that Yi Zichen had attempted to obtain Lin Yuan's blood. A mysterious powerhouse protected the teachers and students from his self-destruction, although they sustained serious injuries. Ling Zichen ruled that Lin Yuan was not responsible for Yi Zichen's death and ordered a public trial for the students who had attacked him. 157

Shrek granted Lin Yuan a Red Badge but publicly tried him on charges of attempting to subvert the academy. Lin Yuan admitted his opposition to Shrek's practices and argued that its system unfairly favored the strong at the expense of weaker students. 157 158

Wang Tianyu presided over the proceedings and announced Yi Zichen's expulsion and the revocation of the offending students' Inner Court qualifications. The debate was made public through Douluo World, and news of the trial attracted attention across both the Federation and the Longma Galaxy. 157 158

Following Yi Zichen's death, Shrek students increasingly regarded Lin Yuan as a prospective leader in their effort to reclaim dignity, resources, and fair treatment within the academy. 155

The Seven Sacred Abyss initiative was presented as the first major reform associated with Lin Yuan's influence. Soul Beast leaders also considered permitting Shrek's entire Outer Court to observe Beast God's tribulation, on the condition that the students first pass through the Seven Sacred Abyss. 190 191

The visit to Elf Star subsequently proceeded, with Wang Tianyu accompanying Lin Yuan, Lan Xuanyu, and representatives of other factions to the valley where Di Tian's tribulation was held. The visit also led to Soul Beasts from Peaceful Garden forming contracts, strengthening the basis for later cooperation between Shrek and the Soul Beasts. 198 207 234

Later cooperation and political support

After Lin Yuan's campaign on Sin Planet, Yang Hui informed him that the military, Shrek, and the Tang Sect intended to nominate him as the Federation's next Speaker. Shrek thus became a supporter of his political advancement despite the earlier reform crisis. 189

When Lin Yuan later visited Shrek's Heaven Fighter Branch, Wang Tianyu and Elder Tree told him that the Soul Beasts had gained seventeen Federation Parliament seats and that some parliamentarians wanted him to replace the Speaker. Wang Tianyu also revealed that Heaven Fighter Headquarters and the Federation had unanimously upgraded Lin Yuan's original level-five mission to level nine. 225

By the time of Lin Yuan's inauguration, Ling Zichen chose to attend the ceremony rather than continue investigating the weapon mentioned by First Seat Tianlong. Tang Miao invited her to go in person, with Pavilion Master Wang waiting outside; Ling Zichen, Tang Miao, Meng Fei, and Wang prepared to attend the parliamentary event. 256
