Background / History

Bi Qiong was an immortal slave in the Hidden Moon Sect’s mining district and led followers of the Seek Immortals Society. Seeking freedom, she accepted an arrangement from an important sect figure: she would secretly excavate Jade Marrow Crystals in the deep mine tunnels in exchange for being allowed to leave the district. She possessed information on the hidden vein, a Bewitching Talisman, and a lotus-leaf storage pouch supplied through that arrangement. 11

She recruited Xu Yuan to mine the vein, initially proposing that he receive two shares of the crystals while she received one. The expedition nearly killed her when white-boned skeletons surrounded her in the mine; Xu Yuan protected her with an Iron Buddha Amulet and fought a path to safety. Afterward, the two consumed Jade Marrow Crystals and both entered Qi Refining. 10 12

The arrangement behind the mine was later exposed as Deacon Rong Ling’s scheme. Rong Ling had intended to use Bi Qiong to uncover hidden treasure and then use her death to implicate the mine supervisor. Bi Qiong’s survival, along with Xu Yuan’s, disrupted those plans. 14

After entering the Hidden Moon Sect’s outer mountain, Bi Qiong discovered a talent for talisman-making and became a talisman apprentice. Her master eventually paid to secure her freedom from the sect, allowing her to leave despite the usual restriction on outer disciples descending the mountain. Before departing, Bi Qiong gave Xu Yuan two Jade Marrow Crystals she had secretly kept from the mine vein, calling him her only friend in the Hidden Moon Sect. 21 34

Years later, Bi Qiong resurfaced in Jade Dragon City as a seventh-level Qi Refining cultivator and disciple of the aging Foundation Establishment talisman cultivator Su Wan. Su Wan chose Bi Qiong as the inheritor of her lifelong talisman legacy and entrusted Xu Yuan with extracting her Mysterious Female Talisman Seed while she was still alive. 141 148

The extraction succeeded, but Su Wan died from the process. Bi Qiong endured the dangerous fusion, received the seed in her mind realm, and later inherited its memories, talisman knowledge, and lingering burdens. 149 150

Bi Qiong is practical, candid, and determined to survive. While trapped in the mining district, she actively sought freedom through a dangerous agreement and did not hesitate to recruit Xu Yuan when she saw a viable chance to obtain Jade Marrow Crystals. 10 11

She is also resourceful under pressure. She used her storage artifact to secure the mined crystals, recognized the mine overseer’s approach, and employed a spiritual attack to disrupt his assault. 12 13

Though initially dependent on Xu Yuan’s protection, Bi Qiong refuses to remain passive. After inheriting Su Wan’s talisman seed, she confronted the fear, grief, and inherited memories surrounding it, then chose to continue her master’s Dao path on her own terms. 154 155
