Good Karma is gained by “bringing benefit to all living beings.” Its rewards are tied to the scale of the benefit and Lin Wen's share of responsibility for accomplishing it. Small daily acts may require repeated completion before granting a point, while life-saving disaster relief produces much larger rewards. 1 2 12

• Giving Old Xu several hundred yuan grants Lin Wen his first point. 1
• Repairing an ultra-small levee cavity grants one point per cavity; larger cavities require substantially more labor for comparatively modest returns. 4 5
• Changpai Village Levee alone yields 296 points because Lin Wen's work helps protect the people sheltering behind it. 6 10
• Good Karma does not always settle immediately; Lin Wen cannot always identify the precise source of a newly received point. 21 44
• Helping good people is portrayed as more rewarding than merely punishing evil people. 39 40

Reincarnation

Accumulating 50 Good Karma permits reincarnation into immortal cultivation as “a kind and virtuous person.” This route provides the following bonuses:

The effects of multiple Good Karma reincarnations do not stack, even though Lin Wen's 305-point total would theoretically fund six such reincarnations. 1 6

Lin Wen considers this route superior to reincarnation by suicide, which grants comprehension but severely reduces temperament, opportunities, and fortune. 1

Benefits

Good Karma can slightly improve aptitude, opportunity, and luck; ward off major disasters; and reduce damage from major tribulations. 1

At 1,000 points, it also unlocks the system's Divine Ability category. Lin Wen receives Wingless Phoenix, which gives him supernatural perception and warns him when an intended action may lead to danger or malignant karma. 44 45

Spellcasting Fuel

In the physical world, Good Karma can substitute for Primordial Spirit power to cast certain spells. This is usually inefficient and reserved for emergencies. 6

• Strength of Nine Bulls and Two Tigers costs 20 Good Karma when cast this way. 6
• Even the cheapest Primordial Spirit-stage spell costs 900 Good Karma. 6
• Lin Wen spends 13 points to activate Divine Movement Art and 33 points for Aura-Binding Divine Power while eliminating seven demons. 17
• Killing those demons returns 21 points, leaving him with a net loss of 25 points for the operation. 17
• Spirit Cat's Swiftness costs 13 points when Lin Wen lacks sufficient Primordial Spirit power. 29 45
• Immortal's Guide can consume enormous amounts of Good Karma for subjective answers; Lin Wen spends 51 points obtaining a reconstruction plan. 9 26

Relationship to Evil Karma

Evil Karma is earned by bringing calamity upon living beings. Lin Wen treats even a single point as unacceptable because he believes its losses to opportunity and fortune outweigh its immediate benefits. 1 2 11

• Town administration — Lin Wen clears miscellaneous tasks, performs manual labor, and assists residents while serving as mayor of Changle Town. 2
• Levee defense — Repairing and reinforcing the Changpai Village Levee becomes his first major source of Good Karma. 4 5 6
• Flood relief — His actions during the flood save lives and bring his total to 809. 10
• Talent recognition — Appointing Zhao Minggong and Qin Luoshuang is followed by an unexplained gain of over ten points, apparently connected to their contributions. 21 22
