The wind still blew, and the trampled blades of grass slowly straightened again, as if nothing had happened.
"All right, we should be going too, Lord Beerus."
Whis turned around and looked at the ever-silent God of Destruction Beerus, his face still wearing that gentle yet unreadable smile.
Beerus folded his arms, his purple skin carrying a chilly sheen beneath the light.
His long, narrow brows were furrowed, and his catlike eyes were filled with suspicion and displeasure.
"Hmph..." He snorted through his nose, his tail flicking impatiently behind him. "Whis, don't tell me you're pulling some boring trick again."
"You worry too much."
Whis's smile deepened as he lightly tapped the ground with his staff. "That being was someone even Father once took notice of."
A strange glint flashed through Beerus's eyes, but he said nothing more.
He knew that whenever Whis mentioned "Father," the matter was anything but simple.
He walked straight over to Whis and, without hesitation, placed a hand on Whis's snow-white shoulder.
The touch was cool yet solid, like touching a piece of warm divine jade.
"Let's go," Beerus said quietly.
Whis nodded, a smile lingering on his lips. The staff in his hand suddenly erupted with a gentle yet immensely majestic radiance.
Bzzzzzzzz--------!!!!!!!!
It was no ordinary sound, but a resonance that could shake the soul itself!
Seven-colored light surged from Whis's slender body like the first ray of light at the birth of the universe.
It did not simply spread outward. It flowed and coiled like a living thing, swallowing both of them whole in the blink of an eye.
The ball of light grew brighter and larger, like a tiny star being born upon the grasslands of the Supreme Kai World.
Then it abruptly contracted and stretched out—becoming an aurora that spanned heaven and earth!
That arc of light was so dazzling that it left one speechless.
Purple, gold, blue, red... every color rushed and merged within it before finally becoming one.
It shot straight toward the lofty night sky of the Supreme Kai World, moving so fast that it utterly surpassed the limits of physics.
Wherever it passed, layers of transparent ripples formed in space, like a massive boulder cast into a still lake.
This could not even be called "flight." It was more like "crossing over" on a conceptual level—directly breaking through the barriers of the divine realm, tearing through layer after layer of dimensions, and racing toward the boundless universe of the lower realms!
The trail of light took a long time to fade, leaving a dreamlike rainbow across the sky of the Supreme Kai World before slowly melting into the eternal radiance.
The grasslands returned to calm, as though nothing had happened.
Only the lingering ripples in space served as a reminder—the two supreme gods had already set out on an unknown journey that even a God of Destruction took seriously.
Deep within the universe, a dazzling, eye-piercing light streaked through the pitch-black void at an unimaginable speed.
This was no ordinary starlight, but pure divine power, leaving a lasting and brilliant trail through the emptiness.
With every flicker, space twisted slightly, while time itself seemed to be caught for an instant—this was hyperspace travel.
Every moment carried them across distances measured in light-years.
At the heart of that light was a streamlined spacecraft, pale-purple energy ripples drifting across its hull.
Inside the ship, the angel Whis stood before the control console, calmly and elegantly tapping the floor with his staff.
His expression was clear and serene. In his blue eyes reflected the constantly changing star maps ahead, as though he were silently reading a poem written by the universe.
Beerus, standing beside him, was far less settled.
He had his arms folded, his purple skin faintly gleaming beneath the dim blue lights.
His tail swayed from side to side, occasionally striking the metal floor with a crisp sound.
His brows were tightly drawn, and his gaze was as sharp as a blade.
Through the porthole, he stared at the stars racing backward outside, as if every ray of light were the source of his irritation.
"That kid Goku..." Beerus suddenly spoke, his voice low and tinged with anger. "He's getting more and more out of line. He won a few battles recently, and now he's arrogant beyond belief. He doesn't even take contestants from other universes seriously. That smug look of his really gets on my nerves!"
Whis tilted his head slightly, and the light at the tip of his staff swayed with it. "Lord Beerus, Goku truly has become very strong. But as the saying goes—an overconfident army is bound to lose. Too much confidence only keeps one from seeing the dangers ahead."
"Hmph!" Beerus lashed his tail heavily, whipping up a gust of air.
"When it comes down to it, this is partly your responsibility too, Whis! You taught him. You guided him in learning godly ki, but you never kept that temper of his in check. Now look at him. His strength has improved, but his nature has only grown wilder. He doesn't listen to anyone anymore, like a wild horse that's slipped its reins!"
As he spoke, he walked over to the porthole and pressed a hand against the cold glass, his fingertips tightening slightly. "I'm truly worried, Whis. At this Tournament of Power, the strongest fighters from all twelve universes will gather. And I've heard—"
He paused, lowering his voice until it was nearly inaudible, as though afraid some invisible presence might overhear him. "In other universes, there are monsters who have already surpassed Gods of Destruction. I don't know whether it's true, but if someone that powerful really appears at the Tournament of Power..."
He did not finish, but Whis understood what he meant.
The angel sighed softly and tapped the floor with his staff. A pale-blue glow spread outward, softening the entire control room.
"Lord Beerus's concerns are justified." Whis's calm voice carried an added note of seriousness. "Goku does indeed possess the level of a God of Destruction candidate. At times, he can even contend with a true God of Destruction for a short while. But to reach the realm you attained through hundreds of millions of years of tempering... he is still far from it. Excessive confidence may instead become his fatal weakness."
At that moment, the spaceship gave a slight shudder.
The view beyond the porthole changed rapidly—the blurred starlight gathered, sharpened, and finally formed a massive planet.
The planet's surface was made of dark-red rock, with deep-purple veins of energy pulsing across it like blood vessels.
This was their destination—Vampa, one of the most primitive and savage planets at the edge of the universe.
"We're almost there, Lord Beerus," Whis said with a smile, lightly waving his staff.
The energy ripples around the spaceship gradually subsided. Its speed slowed, and it finally entered Vampa's atmosphere smoothly.
The hull ignited with blazing flames as it scraped against the atmosphere, but under Whis's divine protection, those flames circled the spaceship like tame little animals, causing no harm at all.
Beerus said nothing. His gaze remained fixed on the rapidly approaching ground.
Through the thin atmosphere, he could see the vast wilderness below, towering volcanoes, and enormous creatures flickering in and out of view within the lava.
