Broly's arm muscles swelled as if they were about to burst, veins bulging across them. That mad, exhilarated smile still hung at the corner of his mouth. Beerus's face remained as stern as ever, but deep within those lofty eyes, a crack called "disbelief" quietly appeared.
Energy roared, stars shattered. The outcome was still undecided.
"You actually... caught it?" Beerus's voice trembled slightly. He truly had not expected this.
He floated above Vampa's shattered wilderness, purple destructive energy lingering at his fingertips, the thundercloud-like glow still refusing to disperse. Across from him, Broly knelt on one knee atop fractured rock, breathing so heavily that pebbles on the ground were swept into the air. His right arm stretched forward, clenched tightly around a violently struggling purple sphere of energy that seemed alive. Its light illuminated his sweat- and blood-streaked face.
Broly gritted his teeth so hard that his gums bled. Bright red blood slid from the corner of his mouth and gathered into a dark crimson smear along his chin. Yet in his eyes—those emerald-green pupils—a fire that could not be extinguished seemed to burn. Pain churned within them, along with an almost crazed, scorching light of victory.
"I caught it."
He growled, his voice hoarse as grinding sand.
The instant Beerus's pupils contracted, Broly forcibly dragged that star-destroying mass of energy toward his own chest, his five fingers clamping down like iron pincers—
As if he were swallowing a violent star.
That destructive purple energy, filled with the will of the God of Destruction, was forced into his body by the most savage and direct means possible!
"You lunatic!!"
Beerus's pupils shrank to pinpoints, and the composure on his face collapsed for the first time. He clearly saw Broly's body suddenly tense, every muscle trembling as purple energy surged beneath his skin like countless rabid venomous snakes, racing wildly about as it tried to tear him apart from within.
The emerald aura around Broly's body erupted out of control, only to be scattered by the rampaging violet radiance within him. Two utterly opposing yet equally terrifying powers tore and collided through his veins and flesh, producing dull sounds that set one's teeth on edge. His aura rose and fell erratically—at times like an erupting volcano, at others as weak as a candle flame about to die in wind and rain.
Sweat and blood soaked through his battle suit, dripping onto the rocks with hissing sounds and sending up hot vapor tinged with the scent of rust.
Yet Broly's gaze remained locked on Beerus. The light in his eyes never dimmed; instead, amid the agony and struggle, it burned ever purer, ever brighter.
Time slowly passed in that silent confrontation.
At last, the violent purple radiance seemed to be gradually tamed by a more primal, more ravenous force, melting bit by bit into that deep emerald green. The roaring within Broly's body also slowly subsided.
"Hah... hah..."
He suddenly bent over, bracing both hands on his knees as he gasped for air. Every breath tugged at organs that felt ready to rupture. Sweat dripped from his forehead like rain.
But when he straightened again, the aura around him was even more overwhelming than before, with a faint, eerie flash of purple lightning flickering amid the emerald glow.
Beerus remained silent, suspended in the air with his arms crossed. The pressure of the God of Destruction weighed down on the entire battlefield until it seemed nearly frozen. The usual arrogance and mockery had vanished from his feline face, replaced by a deep, measured scrutiny.
After a long while, the corner of his mouth slowly curved upward, and he smiled. This was not his usual lofty smile, nor the cold smile of anger, but one born from genuine acknowledgment—perhaps even the exhilaration of meeting a worthy opponent.
"Broly," Beerus said, his voice piercing through the aftershocks with perfect clarity, "you really are a monster through and through."
Broly raised a hand and viciously wiped the blood from his mouth with the back of it. He grinned, revealing a wild yet open smile, his white teeth especially glaring beneath the energy's glow.
"Thanks for the compliment."
His voice was still hoarse, but it brimmed with power.
Beerus rolled his neck, his joints cracking sharply. The purple aura around him erupted once more with a BOOM, denser and deeper than before. The twin flames of destruction in his eyes were so cold they made one shudder.
"Let me see where the limits of a monster like you... truly lie."
Broly said nothing. He merely slammed his fists together before his chest!
BAM!
With a muffled impact, an emerald shockwave exploded outward, blasting away all the surrounding dust and rubble. The fighting spirit in his eyes erupted like a volcano, blazing so fiercely it nearly took tangible form.
His aura no longer fluctuated. It steadily and continuously climbed higher, standing in direct opposition to Beerus's purple pressure as the two carved out distinct yet constantly colliding domains in the sky.
"Just what I wanted!"
The instant the words fell—BOOOOM!!!!!
A dazzling emerald pillar of light and a purple torrent capable of destroying everything collided head-on once again in Vampa's desolate skies!
This time, the scale far surpassed before. The terrifying energy shockwave expanded madly into space like a sphere, illuminating the entire starfield in an instant and outshining even the distant stars.
Vampa's already fragile surface split apart like glass struck by a massive hammer, opening countless bottomless chasms.
