At that, Loki gave Toby a long, searching look. "And only through death... can the Multiverse find new life!"
"Kang brought order to the Multiverse. I brought it freedom. And you... Toby Parker, you will bring the Multiverse an entirely new future!"
Toby looked utterly disdainful. "So your little scheme is to have me replace you and take over this prison seat of yours?"
"Knowing my personality, do you really think I'd let myself end up like you and Kang, trapped at the eternally lonely End of Time, waiting for someone to pierce my heart so I could finally escape this solitude and usher in the next cycle of the Multiverse?"
"Do you think I'd agree to that?"
Loki gently raised a hand and pointed at Dean's heart, smiling. "No. You don't need to replace anyone. You've already started down your own path..."
"Nor do you need someone to replace you to lead the Multiverse into a new cycle, because now, you yourself are the cycle. You... are the universe!"
"Toby, everything has already begun. It can't be stopped..."
Toby's expression changed sharply. As Loki spoke, everything clicked into place in his mind!
He stared at Loki and said coldly, "Very good! What a talented storyteller our God of Stories is. Doctor Doom and I were both part of your story all along!"
Loki did not deny it. He merely smiled without a word.
Right now, Toby wanted nothing more than to smash an elbow into Loki's scheming, smug face.
But as Loki had said, everything had already begun. It could no longer be stopped.
And he couldn't follow Star-Lord's example and impulsively throw an elbow that led straight to a sequel.
He still needed Loki to remain in that seat with his ravaged body and keep the current Multiverse
