After catching up to Wildcat Tabor's fleet, Zhong Hao followed from a distance without entering their field of vision.
The distance between Elqi Island and Jialuo Island was neither near nor far. They set off in the afternoon and sailed at full speed for two or three nights, entering Jialuo Island's waters on the morning of the third day.
Just as they had planned, the four pirate crews landed on a secluded stretch of coast under the guidance of pirates Wildcat had dispatched in advance. Without stopping, they charged straight toward the Lofix Grand Trading Company.
Once Zhong Hao saw them leave, he immediately attacked the ten pirate ships they had left behind. To prevent the pirates from scattering and fleeing after their defeat, he had to cut off their retreat first so he could wipe them all out.
Though more than two hundred pirates had remained behind on the ten ships, they were all mere grunts. Working with Genghu, Zhong Hao swiftly slaughtered every last one of them. Genghu then punched holes through the ships' hulls, sinking them beneath the sea.
Zhong Hao also collected the treasure aboard, including three Devil Fruits.
Rudifen was understandable; he was already a Devil Fruit user and could not eat a second one. But these three pirate captains clearly were not users, yet they had not eaten their fruits. Zhong Hao found that rather puzzling. Did they think Zoan-type fruits were not powerful enough?
However, Zhong Hao had it backward. The three men had been hesitating over whether to eat them, and that hesitation was entirely due to Wildcat's misdirection.
Wildcat had been collecting Zoan Devil Fruits to curry favor with Kaido and use them as stepping stones to advancement. To that end, he had sent many trusted subordinates to infiltrate major forces.
