Background / History

Bluebeard first meets Xia Ming through Anthony, who had informed him of his disciple’s unusually rapid magical growth. He tests Xia Ming by standing unarmed and stationary, promising to concede if Xia Ming can force him back a step with magic. Bluebeard effortlessly dispels a succession of spells, but Xia Ming uses Ground Collapse to make him shift his footing; impressed by Xia Ming’s casting speed, mana reserves, and potential, Bluebeard offers him a place in the Sacred Council 23 24.

As a Dark Hall leader, Bluebeard recruits and cultivates promising young talents in response to the Sacred Council’s rivalry with the rapidly rising Holy Temple. He presses Xia Ming to place within the top three of Azure Flame Academy’s Magic Martial Tournament, explaining that the Council intends to recruit and train the tournament’s leading competitors 113 114.

After Xia Ming secures a top-three finish, Bluebeard brings him into the Council’s Azure Flame Island stronghold and reveals the mission in the Ancient Ruins: the younger generation of the Sacred Council and Holy Temple are to eliminate the dark mage Lei Dun. He later helps open the spatial passage into the ruins alongside three Holy Spirit Magicians 152 153 158.

Bluebeard reports Xia Ming’s achievements in the Eternity Tower directly to the Sacred Council, convening the councilors and Grand Speaker Anger. His presentation of Xia Ming’s accomplishments strengthens both Xia Ming’s standing and Bluebeard’s own influence within the Council 196 197.
