Background and History
Augustine grew up in the Holy Temple, displayed exceptional magical talent from childhood, and received the Pope’s teachings. The Pope chose him as his successor 314 338. Before facing Xia Ming, Augustine defeated three level-ten young experts from the Sacred Council; his mental illusions disrupted them so thoroughly that none withstood a single strike 331 338.
At Thousand Moon Lake, Augustine represented the Holy Temple in the younger-generation contest of its Pact of Three Battles with the Sacred Council. Xia Ming endured his Holy Light Judgment, gained the advantage in their second exchange, then defeated Augustine’s summoned Angel of Light with a Hellhound. The Angel’s destruction caused Augustine a magical backlash, and he conceded 342 343 344.
Augustine later reached tenth place on the Void Rankings by climbing to the Void Tower’s ninth floor. After Xia Ming placed fourth, Augustine challenged him to a future duel at Vermilion Bird Mountain 388 389. They competed again during the Storm Rankings; following another defeat, an injured Augustine visited Xia Ming to exchange knowledge of elemental fusion 427 428. By their later reunion, Augustine had reached mid-level twelve, but felt overshadowed by Xia Ming’s faster advancement 730.
