George froze for a moment.
The life of ordinary people—what was the life of ordinary people? Weren't ordinary people meant to exist for the nobility?
Dole treated ordinary people well, but that was merely Dole's individual case. Other places were not like that. Why were nobles nobles, if not for their status?
He pondered for a moment.
The Emperor Yale noticed his son's state. As they walked, he said blandly, "An empire's strength does not lie in its nobility, but in all its people. Yale stood where he was and sighed. "If everyone worked as hard as Dole, we wouldn't have to rush those idle, good-for-nothing nobles into shouldering their responsibilities. They're all parasites—hardly any of them are worth a damn."
With that, Yale stormed onward in a huff.
Behind them, all the women and guards scarcely dared to breathe.
