Wizards were stronger than warriors because of their absolute control over nature's energy. Their powerful command allowed wizards to inflict dozens of times the damage warriors could, but likewise, after reaching Level Seven, the heavenly tribulations they faced were dozens of times stronger than those of warriors.

When ordinary Level Seven warriors advanced, they faced at most three bolts of lightning; exceptional ones faced no more than nine, and they were merely minor lightning bolts. Wizards, however—even those with the poorest aptitude—needed to withstand at least thirty-six bolts to make it through. The truly powerful ones, like those great wizards of old, needed at least eighty-one.

Donnie had learned from Allen that Dole had faced eighty-one bolts. He was an exceptionally terrifying genius.

Fortunately, it had been Dole who came to ask him to change locations. Had it been anyone else, Donnie would not have given them the time of day.

Leading an academy sounded rather interesting, but Donnie knew Dole wanted him to help guard it, not teach students.
