A Two-Ring Wizard who possessed numerous unfinished oddities and had obtained part of the island's heart, allowing him to use those unfinished oddities outside the island. A once-lucky fellow, now an unfortunate Black Wizard, with a modest reputation in one little corner of the Endless Sea: Master Barry Danton.
Put that way, it made sense, just as Ruger had realized at that moment.
Even if he had been extorted at the end of his time on Cyclops Island, his haul must still have been astonishing-and unknown. There were only so many true oddities, and records of them might even exist somewhere on the island, but those unfinished oddities were the treasure everyone had truly overlooked. Of course, it was Barry Danton who had secured the chance to use that treasure, turning trash into treasure.
His escape from the Boundless Cage was one example.
That was not something the Mushroom Kingdom could accomplish. At least, it had been beyond him when Ruger first met him. In fact, the inspiration for this spell had first sprouted under Barry Danton's provocation back then: a spell that could act upon the soul and bind an enemy.
It must have been an oddity Ruger had never seen. Even its function alone was hard to judge, because it might have been used in combination with the Mushroom Kingdom, an oddity with which it was supposedly compatible. An ordinary person who obtained that oddity alone might not achieve the same results as Barry Danton.
