More than ten days passed.
As Ruger admired the sunset, a question suddenly occurred to him.
When he and that big fellow Mahama had first arrived in the Chaotic Star Sea, they had landed on a large island. A religious war had even been raging there, with several Wizard Apprentices nursing old grudges joining the fighting as divine emissaries. Ruger did not care who won or lost. What concerned him was that only an island of that size had a teleportation magic array. The smaller island beneath his feet clearly had no such thing. And the fact that Wizard Zorn had waited for them there suggested that, of all the nearby islands, only that one had a teleportation magic array.
Ruger scratched his chin.
Zhizhi probably could not swim, much less fly. Though currently asleep, Zhizhi was unlikely to undergo such a drastic change upon waking.
Without a familiar that could fly or swim, getting around here really was inconvenient.
Wizard Zorn had brought them here before. His black familiar had a broad back and two powerful pairs of wings. Even with Mahama's considerable bulk, the three of them had not felt cramped riding on it. Its smooth flight had left quite an impression.
Would he have to ask Wizard Zorn for help whenever something came up? Ruger scratched his head.
Alternatively, he could travel like the islanders, aboard caravan ships that sailed between the islands. Those would certainly take him to the large island, but it would take a fair amount of time, and there would not always be a ship available whenever he wanted one.
Ruger pursed his lips.
Clang, clang!
"Looking for anything, sir? Ethan's Smithy also takes custom... The Hongger Caravan's ships often carry our goods!"
A short, stout young man came over to greet him.
