Ruger felt that he was probably the most low-profile god there was. From the gods he created, to his believers, to their dwellings—everything was produced and used internally, never troubling the outside world, nor being affected by it. The only constraint was the speed at which his own fur grew.
Obtaining an anomaly like Stray Hair One had been a rare stroke of fortune. Though it was not always particularly likable, even if students came to seek instruction on Ruger's little path in the future, it would likely be difficult to pass on. Ruger chatted idly with Lord Isaac atop the pack beast, gradually gaining a deeper understanding of the Island and these Demon-Hunting Cases.
What surprised him was the God of Knowledge. He had originally wanted to learn more about the Demon-Hunting Cases, yet this middle-aged-looking Lord Isaac mentioned that powerful Bread God at least once every three sentences. Of course, that was only what Ruger called him in his heart; he certainly did not dare use the title Bread God in front of Isaac.
From their conversation, Ruger could sense that Isaac had completely given up hope of advancing to become a wizard. In his own words, if not for the inheritance his teacher had left behind, even reaching fifth-level wizard apprentice would have been an impossible dream. Years of hesitation had made him see himself clearly.
In contrast, Isaac was full of expectations for the Island's other master—his old friend, who was akin to a senior brother. He had always hoped that the other man could fulfill their teacher's expectations, walk the road their teacher had
