The silver carriage raced through the sky, following the direction in which the two combs had vanished toward the largest island in the distance.

The others gradually noticed what made this place different. Just as Varin had said at the beginning, this was a strange, unusual Fairy Kingdom. Even Ruger and Mahama, who knew very little about fairies, could spot one oddity after another.

First, fairy kingdoms came in countless forms, each different from the next, but they all shared a similar atmosphere. That was common knowledge.

Yet this vast Fairy Kingdom was deathly still, with a thin haze of faith power lingering throughout it.

Neither phenomenon belonged here.

Ruger suddenly withdrew his gaze from the land below and looked toward the horizon instead.

"Noticed it?"

Zorn took a small sip of his wine.

Ruger studied the horizon intently. He had detected the anomaly so quickly partly because of his earlier experience. The sensation of space cracking and continually repairing itself was still vivid in his mind.

"This seems to be a Fairy Kingdom that's breaking apart?" Ruger said hesitantly.

"You could put it that way. I noticed it while the carriage was moving," Zorn said, resting his wine bottle on his knees and looking out through the round window. "Under normal circumstances, the carriage wouldn't travel so smoothly or so quickly. That tells us cracks have already appeared in the Fairy Kingdom. So yes, you could call this a kingdom that's breaking apart, on the brink of destruction."

The young people listened intently to Zorn.

Ruger had only detected the fractures in the Fairy Kingdom. He had not dared conclude that the kingdom was doomed. Zorn's words delivered the final verdict.
