The ground trembled as all manner of grotesque mushrooms burst from beneath the earth and grew at breakneck speed. In the blink of an eye, Ruger found himself amid a dense forest of multicolored mushrooms.

This environment greatly favored his opponent.

The quaking ground looked terrifying, and it was no easy feat to achieve. Yet in truth, all she had done was produce mushrooms. The sticky ground that had accumulated here year-round was like a blanket, and the suddenly sprouting mushrooms had merely pushed it upward.

Ruger remained committed to eliminating his opponent, but the fact that she had managed to break free also stirred a different kind of excitement within him.

The multicolored mushrooms that had blocked his vision suddenly began to wither, and the female wizard came back into view. The first thing he saw, naturally, was her bright, icy eyes. She was still clutching her shield tightly, while the wretched state Fireball Spell had left her body in was rapidly healing.

The instant she saw Ruger, the female wizard averted her gaze and cautiously turned sideways, hiding behind the shield that was moaning in agony.

Ruger instinctively felt that this one—or rather, this group of wizards—was more troublesome than the two he had encountered on the little island.

He grew even more curious about where they had come from.

Gray bullets continuously formed in his hands, spinning as they flew toward the female wizard. The tall, slender shield kept producing shrill high notes before dipping into low ones.

The two tangled through the dense forest, one chasing and one fleeing. It seemed like a long pursuit, but it had actually lasted only two breaths.

The female wizard had only recovered enough to move more freely when the multicolored mushroom forest stopped withering and began growing lushly again.
