Chapter 462: Giving and Request
Outside the palace, the fairies' cheers could still be heard from the distant city, though no longer clearly. That bustling clamor, so full of mortal life, seemed to be separated from this place by something, standing in stark contrast to the tranquility here.
Varin let out a brief cry of surprise, shattering the silence, but quickly reined in her emotions. She merely stood there, staring fixedly at Jillian, who stood alone in the distance.
Jillian stood in the empty palace, still elegant, still beautiful. Yet a closer look revealed many problems. Ruger noticed that she seemed slightly taller than before, her eyes a little rounder, and her hair much shorter, neatly combed back.
Of course, none of those changes compared to the shock of her becoming a man.
Mahama seemed to be the last to notice, perhaps because he had not rudely widened his dog eyes and carefully scrutinized the wizard before him at the very first moment.
"We merely came to offer our blessings."
Wizard Zorn smiled as he spoke first.
Varin kept glancing at Zorn upon hearing this, but did not interrupt.
Yet in his words and smile, Ruger sensed a different kind of amusement.
"Then I'll accept your blessings!"
Another voice suddenly rang out.
Before that voice appeared, no one had felt anything strange. Only once it reached their ears did they notice the difference—this was the voice that truly belonged to Wizard Jillian.
Then the Jillian before them began to flicker and sway. Another Jillian stepped out from within her, as though crossing through a door—or rather, crossing through a reflection and emerging from the other side of a mirror.
