Ruger was naturally no stranger to that voice. Even though he had heard it only twice, it had left an unforgettable impression. That fellow was rather strange too—when others roared in fury, she laughed; while the other Demon lords fought above, she came down here for a stroll.

But Ruger felt that there would soon be quite a show.
He wondered what level the fellow standing inside with the old Demon was. Would it be evenly matched with this arriving Demon lord?
Naturally, Ruger did not dare investigate that mysterious person. He had not even made out their figure clearly, only roughly judging their position and height from the old Demon's back and movements before hiding behind a corner and cautiously listening in.

Ruger thought of the Demons who had descended with the two of them, such as that two-headed Demon.
More likely, those fellows had already knelt before the Demon lord, and these were now their footsteps. They might even be serving as temporary mounts for the lord, just as Mahama had. Choosing to pledge loyalty to a new lord—anything for survival—was understandable.
As the disorderly footsteps drew nearer, Ruger and Mahama became even more cautious.
A great battle was about to erupt at any moment, but they were not the protagonists here. All they needed to do was make sure neither side noticed them before
