Chapter 495: Worlds and a Stumble
Ruger had trembled alongside the demons around him in all sorts of situations. The only differences had been how violently he shook, whether his calves started first or his shoulders bore the brunt of it. Only now, facing that sweet smile, did he realize the difference. Unless you had truly faced it and witnessed it yourself, you could never understand what real terror was.
Terror did not have to be ugly.
The thought suddenly surfaced in Ruger's mind, and he slowly turned to look at Mahama.
He was not particularly worried about whether the fellow could come up with an answer. This big fellow was merely built like a brute; his skull was not stuffed with fists.
The real danger, the real cause for worry, was this demon lord whose smile concealed her fickle temper, not any answer.
Thinking it over, she had never actually explained the rules of her question. Once one of them answered, would the others still get a chance? Would everyone who failed to give an answer have to die? Everything unreasonable was reasonable here.
Because this was who she was: a demon lord with a lovely voice and a sweet smile.
A demon was still a demon, regardless of anything else. However high their standing, however great their intelligence, the size of their fists still determined what was right and reasonable-even if they had been proclaiming how much they valued wisdom just a moment ago.
