With nothing unusual happening, Mahama ran freely, picking up speed as he went. The two-headed demon, who had never had a mount before, felt the breeze against his faces and wore expressions of enjoyment.
"I'm a mutant demon too. All three of us are mutants, and intelligent ones at that-" As the two-headed demon spoke, he looked pleased with himself again. "Talking is important too. I'm this smart because I have two heads. We talk all the time, and we've been doing it since we were weak. We often argue, but neither of us can get away from the other. That's important. Sometimes we fight too, but when we hurt ourselves, we stop."
Ruger looked at him curiously. It was hard to imagine-or rather, he simply could not imagine-how he would live if he had two heads. Of course, that was in the Cavern World.
Here, however, they were in the Abyss. They were demons with spell-like abilities, and the cooperation between those two heads increased their chances of survival. It was precisely that cooperation that had brought them this far. In this harsh environment, they were each other's natural companions, among the rare few they could trust most.
They had to be trustworthy, too, or they themselves would die.
Ruger looked at the two-headed demon. "You'll both win the Abyss's approval and receive its favor. You might even become Abyss lords."
