Cultivation and a first taste

Ruger went to another workbench that had already been set up and began brewing the bath potion for this spirit fur cultivation session according to the formula in his mind. Notably, it really had been optimized to an impressive degree. Brewing it was even less demanding than making the bath potion at the Old Lunse Potion Shop. Anyone capable of brewing two low-level potions could make it without failing. The only difference was a slight variation in quality. A poorer-quality potion required the spirit furs to soak longer, which also increased the risk of them dissolving.

As long as the spirit furs survived, the cultivation results were essentially the same as those achieved with a high-quality potion.

Ruger calmed his mind and began brewing.

This formula used both stinkflame grass and red finger, along with a length of dragonblood bitter vine. He had grown the thing for so long that it was about time it proved its worth. Otherwise, all the care Aisijin gave it every day would have been wasted.

Drawing on his own understanding and the properties each ingredient had revealed during screening, Ruger boldly set to work, trusting the senior Wizard's claim that the formula was very difficult to fail after all the effort spent optimizing it.

He was, after all, an apprentice potion brewer with some grounding in the craft.

The potion gradually settled from turbulent to calm, and his heart relaxed with it.

Following the senior Wizard's knowledge, he had screened and selected thirty-two ingredients in total. Now only the last one remained-a little something outside the senior Wizard's plans.

Two grains of golden sand appeared in his hand. He dropped them into the calm potion and guided them as they slowly dissolved.

This was the golden sand he had accumulated using the Golden Key.
