"Here-it's yours!"
The bald Wizard stood up, a bottle in one hand, and tossed the last piece of delicious roast meat into his mouth with the other.
Just as he had suspected.
Though they had merely been chatting, the bald Wizard's sighs between his words and a few subtle expressions had given Ruger the sense that this was no ordinary conversation. There was another meaning behind it.
Ruger blinked.
"Is it because of us?" he asked in a low voice.
"Hahaha! I've stayed here for years, and some fellows have even started calling me a cowardly fool who only knows how to tuck his tail between his legs." The bald man's red eyes lit up. "But I crave treasure just as much as anyone. I crave another oddity."
A faint light shone in his blood-red eyes. His gaze swept over Ruger and settled on Wizard Mona beside him, staring straight at her.
"You aren't ordinary Wizards. You must be some kind of enforcers from the Supreme Council. Since even you have come to this island, that means there isn't much time left. This farce is finally coming to an end-and before it does, I certainly can't keep lounging around here-"
The bald man laughed as he spoke, the bloody glow slowly fading from his eyes.
He rolled his shoulders, shook the bottle in his hand, and started toward the exit.
Ruger found him quite interesting. He raised his hand and tossed him another bottle of wine.
